Ok, I'm running VG on an older pc. I know I should probably upgrade, however, I'm in the process of building a new pc and, therefore, don't want to dump money into my current rig. I have no problem with running this game on the lowest of low settings so I have the game set on "highest performance."
I do ok on my own in world hunting and soloing at about 20fps. I drop to about 15 in towns and I can live with that as well. The problem I'm running into is when I'm grouped. I just can't seem to handle multiple players and mobs on my screen at the same time and I drop to 0ish fps. I'm playing a shaman and it's pretty much impossible to heal my group.
Like I said, I'm building a new pc that I want to last me for a long long time. It should be finished about April or so. What I was wondering is if anyone knows any tricks to improve performance after the video is set to "highest performance." I don't mind giving up quality at all, I just want to be able to group and heal before my new pc is finished. Thanks in advance.
My current pc specs:
P4 2.5
1GB crap ass old school ram
BFG 6800
I also am running VG off an external HD. I didn't have enough room on my current HD so I picked up an external unit to start playing and to be able to transfer to my new pc once it's ready.
