are clerics the lowest dps of the healers?

Is that the trade off for heavy armor? Since they can use 2H weapons and some skills are based off of weapon dmg, does that aid their dps enough to not make solo extremely painful?

Great to hear, but if that is the case, then whats the catch? A healer in plate with good DPS? Sounds a little fishy to me.:)

No catch... there is also a healer in medium with better DPS, a healer in cloth with good spell dps... it's all playstyle. All can perform comparably, they just achieve their ends in different ways (spells, weapons, fist fighting, etc...).

Hmm. I'm not having any problem with DPS. It'll require a bit of skill to use your spells efficiently, but I solo content four levels higher then myself. Two dot of course, but still. I haven't really tried to tango with a three dot by myself.

Agreed. I would never expect to be considered dps as a class, it was mostly just making sure it was reasonable enough to make solo play decent. I've got my cleric up to lvl 9, and I find the dps is perfectly reasonable for solo content thus far. So far lots of fun!

It is pretty easy to hold agro from a tank that is your level or just under you as a CLR. So yea, my DPS isn't lacking at all. As long as I can whack on stuff while I heal and feel like I am contributing, that is all I really need. I wound't call CLR's the best DPS as far as healers go. But we are decent as well as having basically the highest survivability of any of them. The only thing that rivals our plate is the DSC FD, but even that isn't very effective.

The healing classes in this game do not do the best dps, but on the other hand they aren't helpless. It's refreshing to see classes that are a little more rounded, and I think they put a lot of thought into the healing classes, maybe even more so than any of the others. I'm sure there will be adjustments as time goes on, but I also don't think all of the classes are fully evolved.

I'm quite thrilled with the amount of damage I do as a cleric. I was expecting to just sit back and heal, but I get in there and mash my combat abilities and make the numbers fly. Heck, I even draw aggro once in awhile. :)

I know my DPS pales in comparison to offensive fighters/casters, but overall it feels like I am contributing to the demise of the monsters.

I think a lot of credit must be given to Sigil for some good class design "overall". A few thing that jumped out at me especially playing the cleric was the dmg buff (not sure what its called) being a 10m buff. So rather than hearing the "just stand back and heal", we have reason to show off the plate armor and get into the fray.

I also love how the melee abilities come out of the endurance pool, and not the energy. Now I'm free to swing a weapon without worry of being OOM when a heal is needed. Also hour long buffs? Thank you!! Now I can focus more on more interesting things.

The answer to the post title is YES.

Clerics have the worst dps of all the healing classes, as they should.

They also have the best heals, and the best armor, as they should.

They also have pretty good buffs (not the best, shammy shines here), as they should.

Can they kill stuff? Absolutely. Can they kill as fast as a BM? No way, but then again, BM has horrible armor and less melee power than a cleric.


You can't have everything, where would you put it?
