I'm still doing the newbie Dip quests in Halgarad (I'm level 45). The trainer told me to talk to people (soldiers, citizens, etc..) so I headed over to Deroger Post where I could find NPCs in the 50-60 range.

Since they have higher influence than me, I lose more often than I win. Sometimes it takes 3-4 times before I can adjust my cards to beat them.

As a Vulmane who is KOS in Leth Nurae this is a problem, because every parlay loss is -11 faction to Leth Nurae, but every win is only +3 (at most). So I'm losing 30-40 Leth Nurae faction for each NPC I parlay with (assuming I keep trying until I win and it takes 3-4 times).

The negative faction adjustments seem way too severe for newbies.

I think if you lose to someone of higher influence, the penalty for losing should be small and the reward for winning should be large. But it seems the opposite is true.

I just can't afford to throw away that much faction when I'm just trying to get through the newbie quests.

I gave up on Civic Diplomacy for now and went back to Adventuring...

I'm having the same problem in Mekalia. I'm at 43 diplomacy and the ones for the civic diplomacy tutorial are all 50. They've got cards that go their way by 5's and 7's. Closest I came was 13-0 with my best strategy. I lost a handful of times and for fear of going KOS in my home city, I gave it up.

What gives, am I that bad of a diplonome, or do I just need to find some dip quests elsewhere and try civic again later?

They're going to remove the penalties soon.

In tursh the best you can find are the soldiers who are 75's ..the crafters are 150's ...try doing that with a lv41

Things need to be adjusted for that quest at least. Maybe send you to a particular npc with a quest rated closer to your own level. After all (for me at least) it is the civic diplomacy "introduction" tutorial.

The faction hits for newbie Civic Diplomacy are much better now after the recent patch. Where I was losing 11 Neth Lurae faction per loss before, I now only lose 1 or 2, but I'm also able to win more often so my faction is actually rising (+1 per win).

I had to give up Diplomacy while I was waiting for this to be fixed, because I couldn't afford the severe faction loss, but now I'm able to enjoy it again.

Thanks Dip Devs !!!

Also, try not to get too discouraged from it. I find that everytime I approach a new city, I take some major faction hits before I am able to find a nice little group of 2-3 NPCs that I have no problems beating. But then once I find that, you catch back up quite quick. It's sort of liek testing the waters a LOT before you find what works, but once you find it, you run with it.

I've noticed that the faction hit seems to vary between city faction and prestige faction.

Aye ..after scouring the whole area I was able to find a couple 50's of each station. Things are looking up now ;)

It's very frustrating to take those hits and puts a lot of people off diplomacy. But you really do catch up fast when you find yourself a nice little grinding spot. I have learned to expect that when I go to a new citiy, I will probably lose a lot of faction before I find my sweet spots, lol.
