OK i just want to know if im the best Cleric out there. I just Learned Cry of solace (yes the pld warcry) from a mob the other day. it went something like this.
DING lvl 18... /gu YES i rock 18
congrats... etc
Then fighting a mob words flash on screen. "You learn a little bit about Cry of solace I you need to learn more."
WTF i say no one knows anything about this. solo that same mobs for a while (thank you allive (regen) ) eventualy get to You ahve learned cry of solace I, congragulations.
I ask EVERY other cleric i can find in search thats higer than me. none of them have it or heard of it.
This freaking rocks. i wonder how many other abilities are hidden.
Has anyone else learned something from a momb, not eh "hidden" rng things where its some abilites in a row this added something to my "p" ability sheet. it is cry of solace 1. An INSTANT CAST AOE HEAL. which of course rocks. i already have 92 healing focus (of 180) which grats 10.6 % to my heals. Now me and my partner in crime can dou 4 orb mobs three lvls over us wiht no issues at all. ^^
anyone else learn this i realy wanna know if im first ^^.

I read that some classes were getting other classes abilities. Although I've not seen the post myself, I'm told this is a known bug.

Well I did read that abilities and spells would be obtained throughout the world...
not just by trainers. This also includes the group versions of our buffs, so this might not be a bug.

Can you post where these mobs are? I'm a Paladin who'd love to learn this paladin skill.

My friends and I just picked this up in Qalia. Just east of the East Angoer Bunkers there is a small camp. The Tauthien Disciples there cast it every so often, and you can learn it if you are level 18 or above. It takes 10 or so casts to fully learn it, and it shows up under the adventuring skills tab when you do.
Cry of Solace
??? Energy
Range - 1
Instant
Refresh: 100
This war cry provides 342 health to you and your allies.
The ??? on energy is because it seems to vary. On an 18 Monk it was 192 (although they have 0 energy). An 18 ranger (me) listed it's cost at 188, or 28% of my energy. An 18 disciple listed it's cost as 362, or 38% of his energy.

That is pretty cool. I have also heard of hidden abilities that can be learned by doing a combination of abilities in a certain order. Has anyone disciovered this yet??

I picked up Cry of Solace fighting in a group near Lakeview. I also gained something about Vampires...maybe Curse of the Vampire???? north of Misthaven while soloing and another ability that has Ice in the name in the same Lakeview-Misthaven area, maybe that monastery south of the Slayer camp. Sorry for the sketchy info but I'm posting this from work and can't access my character for more details.
I haven't used anything but Cry of Solace yet, and I know I should take time out from fighting to investigate these things, but there is so much to do in Telon I can't bear to lose a single minute of adventuring.

that is exactly what i mean i was just wondering if anyone had found anything out about clerics
This happened to my Disciple at level 20. I was fighting the Vampire Paladin mobs near the Vampire Slayer town in Thestra.

Learned abilities such as Cry of Solace I or Keen Eye III (I've learned both) have been removed if you are not the intended class as of today's patch. Both have been removed from my spellbook and hotbar.
Cry of Solace I is a Paladin spell.
Keen Eye III is a rogue ability.

Now we just have to work hard at finding where our cleric specific learned abilities come from! :)

I'm going to necro this post. Have any clerics located any of our learned abilities? It's disheartening that we have the same old abilities. I've been scouring the world trying to get any clues as to the whereabouts of these abilities.
Lets keep this updated with infoz :P

I've heard that only a few learned abilities were currently in-game and that more were coming in the next couple patches. Hopefully we get one!

I see on our spell lists a lvl 50 spell that is not on our trainer. Thinking that might be one of the learned abilities. Its a rather powerful spell, so I'm not surprised they don't just hand it to you.

Learning abilities from mobs is a really really really cool idea, but I just hope the implementation of it is done well. Here's what concerns me:
1> It ought to take FAR longer to learn an ability in this fashion than having it cast upon you 10 or 18 times. Considering that most mobs can and will use any one ability on you every 30-60 seconds, at the current rate it will happen way too fast to be even the least bit realistic. If I can learn a new ability from a mob, I want it to be something I earned. I want to have to kill like 100 of them, or something. Or at least be exposed to the ability in question like a hundred times! And hey, while we're at it, make it take longer for me if my Intelligence is low, and less time if my Intelligence is high.
2> My two characters are Bard and Disciple. Am I shafted, here? Somehow, I don't envision coming across that many (read: ANY) Bard or Disciple NPC's. They couldn't code Bard NPC's in EQ or EQ2 (to my knowledge), and I'm not expecting that to work here, either. Same hold true with Disciples, I can't envision a Disciple NPC, at least not one who will be building and using Jin for moves, and healing himself or his buddies with Endowment procs. No wayyyyy, man! Prove me wrong here, Sigil. Please.

I thought I should chime in. I agree that it should take some effort to learn an ability from a mob, but I don't think it should be a race to see how many times you can see the mob use the ability on you. Since this game is heavy on minigames, I don't see why an interface can't be brought up where you play a minigame to understand the spell. Maybe you can do little research in towns or perhaps you can get an abstract form of the ability as you zero in on how to optimize it, and bingo you've spent your time interacting with the game to get your new ability.

Well im a 24 disciple. And at about 19 I learned my first spell off a mob.
My problem is I thought it was a bug, and stil ldo actually, as it didnt end up in my spell book and I didnt bother writing the name down because I assumed it was in my spell book and I got distracted because of a guild situation directly after.
After trying to remember it, I just cant. Dont know what the hell it was, but I know it was a spell and I got the same thing pop up on my screen. I assumed all of learning abilities wasnt in it and it was buggy. This is the first IVe read about someoen getting the message and the spell sticking.
Also there are disciple mobs around. Specifically level 18 to 20 Disciples in Qalia, a little outposts close to Upside Garrison and ive seen them before hand, on other human mobs.

Typically you have to "learn" bits of the spell about 10 times before it writes the spell into your spellbook. Did you keep getting the message, "You have learned some of X ability but need to learn more." or did that happen 10 times and you got a message saying "You have learned X abiltiy. It is now in your spellbook."

Its not a bug, this was one of the beautifiul ideas by the Sigil team.
Its actually part individualilty part anti power lv coding.(its not fully implemented yet)
The idea is that if you chose to say put an alt into a fellowship and never actually played said alt, but let others get all your xp for you till max lv.
Your max lv toon would be essentially VERY underpowered, and Mr.McQuaid once said possibly too the point of wanting to re-roll it.
Things may have changed in that regard but yeah suppose to be able to get abilities from mobs eventually.

I may have just missed these on the trainer but I do not recall these spells being available:
Flames of the Faithful
Hallow
Sacrifice
Yet on the update notes it says these spells for the cleric received graphical updates. If they are on the trainers and I missed them, sorry, but I do not recall. If they are, indeed, spells available to us that aren't on the trainers, then this just re-lit my interest in scouring the world for these spells.

I play a ranger and at level 17, have two learned abilities. But they aren't learned "from mobs"...they are learned by activating a chain of abilities in a specific order, regardless of what mob I'm fighting. These abilities are "passive" in the sense that you dont click on them to activate them. They are triggered every time you use the chain of abilitites in the proper order.
For example, I have one called Freeze and one called Swelter. Freeze is triggered by using Blade of Winter twice in a row. Swelter is triggered by using Cripple, Blade of Winter, Blade of Summer. There are other learned abilities but they require skills that I dont have yet.
Maybe there are abilities that are learned from mobs, but I'd bet you're talking about abilities that are learned/triggered by activating your abilities in a specific order.
