Jack Thompson, that crazy attorney who thinks video games are the root of all that's evil in the world, is facing a disciplinary hearing. GamePolitics.com is reporting that the Florida Bar has had enough of Thompson and upon their recommendation, the Florida Supreme court is having a disciplinary hearing on Jack Thompson which could lead to him loosing his license to practice law.
From the article; (http://gamepolitics.com/2007/02/03/jack-thompson-faces-florida-bar-disciplinary-hearing/) In upholding a pair of complaints against Thompson by Judge Moore, the Florida Bar alleges that the outspoken attorney violated numerous professional standards both before and after his Pro Hac Vice status was revoked in Alabama. Among the misconduct alleged by the Bar is Thompson’s assertion that a local Alabama attorney claimed he could fix cases before Judge Moore

Meh. You don't have to be a lawyer to protest stuff.
At least this will limit some of his abilities, though.

poor guy...
hahahahahahhaha sucka!!!! :p
Hahahahah, I *love* the choice of words, Laby...
"Pwned", indeed!
edit: Seriously though, I think the guy *is* losing it. He's becoming more and more paraoid that everyone is out to 'get him'... *remembers the time where he tried to get Penny Arcade arrested...* (read down to the "Yack Thompson" post and continue reading from there... hilarity ensues!) - http://www.penny-arcade.com/2005/10/17
And then there was that hand2hand combat with vgcats... http://www.vgcats.com/jack.php

I actually got chills of joy from this post :)
I can't stand Jack Thompson, more-so than any other person who directly comes to mind :)
Jack Thompson does think the world is out to get him. A friend sent him an email once telling him what an idiot he is thinking video games are bad, and Jack Thompson replied. The only thing he could say about it was to learn how to spell a word correctly before emailing him. My friend emailed him back, telling him to learn how to capitalize the letter in the front of the sentences before emailing him back.

Ding Dong the witch is dead, Which old witch? The wicked witch!
Gamers rejoice, I cannot tell you how much I detest this man who uses protsesting violent games to catapult himself into the spotlight.

This guys is so stupid. I just can't fathom how people can make the kind of comments he has and not know what they are talking about.
I hope they strip him of his license to practice law. And good riddense.

he makes himself a target...
and up until now people have avoided him...
I figured something would happen with all of the emails and correspondence he had with groups like Penny Arcade and the complete disregard he had for anyone but himself... I thought someone would eventually catch on to what an ass he truly is.
It's about time
And yes he can still protest things all he wants even if he isn't a lawyer but now he's just a man he has no legal jurisdiction nor backing which he had before (IE: everyone listen to jack, he's a lawyer)
now it will be everyone ignore jack the loon with an agenda...
But then again with him gone maybe someone else will stand up to fight against these evil video game companies... someone whom we can equally mock
The king is dead... all hail the king!

If he actually did something wrong, I guess I'm in favor of him being disbarred ... but I certainly don't wish him any professional harm simply because I disagree with him. Frankly, he hasn't been that successful when it comes to prosecuting anyone, so who cares if he keeps practicing? He's among the most efficient PR machines the video game industry could have hoped for ... for ****'s sake, he put Rockstar on the map!

The rules of the game are changing rapidly, and J.T. is like a bad broker who bought heavily into a seemingly lucrative stock at its peak and still hopes it'll go back up. No such luck. Video game acceptance is only growing, and more and more people try them out and realize they are simply interactive entertainment, and not the root of all evil. Parents of the gamers, who worried their child might grow up to be a serial killer, are calming down as their gamer kids go to colleges, get nice jobs and become upstanding members of the society.
Some ten years ago, the guy would have a rather large sympathising audience. Today, it's naught but a few old coots. Give 4-5 more years, anti-game agenda will have about as much support as strip-mining in national parks.

It is because of people like this sorry excuse of a lawyer, whom's name will not be muttered from my mouth, that cause some people in my neighborhood to look at me like I am some sort of violence loving sociopath for being in the industry I love to be in, doing the things I love to do. I rarely utter the word "hate", but this is one person whom I hate.
I once had an email exchange with this person, which ended with him branding me as a video game loving idiot that can not form a single logical thought. I am very glad that this person is getting what he deserves.
