On my wife's 17 Cleric, Maul of Divinity I always hits for far more damage than the tooltip indicates. The tooltip states 86-94 damage (plus the +12 damage bonus buff which works as it should).
In her offensive form with no buffs on, Maul of Divinity I typically strikes for about 240 to 260. In her healer stance, it usually hits for between 200-215. This is not only far more than the tooltip states, it's more than the tooltip info plus her normal damage plus that 12 buff damage from the ability combined. This is against mobs roughly equal level (14-18). Her normal attack damage is listed as 70-90. It shouldn't factor into the damage from Maul of Divinity based on the tooltip, but I'm listing it here in an effort to be complete.
If she fights a level 24 mob, then this ability hits for 100 or so. Note that this is +7 compared to her level.
Perhaps someone can enlighten me as to why there's such a discepancy between what it states and what it does--and if one of the two is incorrect, which is it?

Hehe it does the same for me, My normal attack dmg is around the same i belive, and im doing anywhere from 250-260 and then around 500 crit. Im not complaining at all, and as i have read around the boards it seemed to be more of a melee fighter than just a nuke caster. So im not sure why it says the dmg is only 70-80 on the tooltip but it says the same for mine.
I also played in beta as a cleric and was a lvl 35 from the buff bot, i also noticed that we were more of a melee class than caster. So i think it is just the tooltip that is wrong cus that sounds about right for the amount of dmg we should be doing, untill they nuke us that is =\. Its bound to happen anytime now.

Clerics are a melee healing class. Our nukes are just for fun really. The tooltips are rarely accurate for any of my abilities, on any classes. It's hard to say definitively that the current damage is correct or not.
All healing classes need to be adjusted, not just clerics. It is pretty silly to be posting here to nerf cleric dps, when we are in fact the lowest dps class in the game. Yeah we are overpowered, but that is true of all the healing classes atm.

Agreed. I will add this bug to the CLR bug list tho. They have a lot of work to do, lol.
