I just go Vanguard, but I seem to be having a major crashing problem. When the load bar finishes, it crashes to the desktop. Here is my log, only the error stuff:

[02/05/07 06:33:24] FATAL: Critical: Attempt to seek outside of the buffer -1733479/1578079
[02/05/07 06:33:24] FATAL: Critical: Windows GetLastError: The system cannot find the path specified. (3)
[02/05/07 06:33:24] FATAL: Exit: Executing UObject::StaticShutdownAfterError
[02/05/07 06:33:24] FATAL: Exit: Executing UWindowsClient::ShutdownAfterError
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Exit: OpenAL Audio subsystem shut down.
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: FArchiveFileReader::Seek
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: ULinkerLoad::Seek
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: TLazyArray<<
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: VgSceneTreeNode::IsActorVisible
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: VgPlanetScene::RenderLevels
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: (Pos=41532.00,39251.00,28527.20)
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: UGameEngine::Draw
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: UWindowsViewport::Repaint
[02/05/07 06:33:25] FATAL: Critical: UWindowsClient::Tick

I have no idea what is going on. Right now I'm running a full update scan, in case files are corrupt. Then I'll try to defrag. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to do.

It's a common problem with vanguard. from the error's similarity to what I used to get, I'd say you are using Windows XP, correct?

Used to run WinXP myself, untill yesterday when I installed vista. It has it's downsides, but at least I no longer suffer from crashing. It also seemed to fix the white flashing inherent in the 7900 series. So, I'm happy :cool:

I dont want to jijack this guys thread..but you are saying that Vista resolves that texture flashing that happens? My 7950 has that happen very frequently..its usually buildings in the not so far off distance doing it..very annoying.

My computer can run many, many games perfectly fine. I can run Oblivion near full quality at 15-20 fps, and can get through 3dmark06. World of Warcraft runs wonderfully on my computer. I've got a 3000(overclocked) megahertz processor, 1g of RAM, and a Radeon X1600.

I've just finished defragging, and am going to see if it works or not.

EDIT: And it still crashes. I have no ****ing idea what to do. This is really frustrating, I want to PLAY Vanguard!

I have finally found out what the problem is, and a kind-of solution. Quote from some other forums:

sounds like you are getting VPU recovery erros. Sounds bad but it is simply the driver restarting. Most of us are getting this now. I have found a way to limit this but it turns down the quality of your game

Do this and see if it helps:

Render quality: balanced
Anisotropy off
HDR off
Tone Mapping off
Bloom off

Also in your CCC, turn of catalyst AI

If this help, play liek this until you read in a patch note that they have tracked down the cause nad patched it.

Agin, this is only temporary and you are not alone :)

I am only saying it fixed my flashing. Don't buy a new OS on the advice of just one guy unless you either a) have way to much money :rolleyes:, or b) you really, really trust him :twisted: .
