Well folks we are down to about two months an counting until Joss Whedon's latest and greatest breakthrough with the film version of his posthumous hit Firefly.

I personally am a HUGE fan and have taken note of the few threads or mentioning of the show/BDM (big dang movie) on the OVF.

I come here today to spout a little and say that now that the comic book (which bridge the gap between series and movie) are out (the first issue anyways) I have ordered/preordered all of the issues (all 9 of them cause the 3 issues have a 3 covers each with a different cast member YAY!) and will be building a shrine to the awesomest of awesome tv shows.

Sadly one of the issue #2 covers was out of stock (and it is not even out already sheesh) so I will have to hunt for that one on my own. But for now I can comfortably sit back and wait as the other 8 books slowly find their way home to my mailbox...

Ahhhh being a comic book/movie/SciFi fan has never felt this good...

heh thats what I heard too ... is why I preordered them online...

cause then I KNOW I will be getting them all... still have to find the cover of that one issue

If you need help finding any of them lemme know Have... I am sure I could dig around and find something (hint: look at places like barnes and noble and other bookstore places in a couple weeks to see if you can find them there, the "newsstand" shipments are usually a couple weeks behind the comic dealers)

EDIT: Just secured the last book... now I just gotta hope and pray that they come in decent shape =/

I was able to get all of the first 3 and reserved all of the last 3 but I was unable to get the second group. Guess I'll have to turn to ebay for those. :(

As for Serenity, I was lucky enough to see one of the first pre-screenings they did and I really liked it. In fact, I loved it! I won't spoil it for anyone though. :)

I'm also looking forward to the movie :) Such a great series, to bad it was killed by the evil corporate types! Will have to look into this comic book thing, thanks for the post.

have faith...

Universal (or 'Versal for us browncoats) is the company putting out the movie and secured rights to show the TV series in its entirety on the SciFi Channel (which is owned by 'Versal)

My hope (as with many other fans hope) is that if the movie does well enough they may bring it back on the SciFi channel (much like they did with Stargate: SG1 which was originally a showtime original program but was cancelled and picked up by the SciFi channel...

'Versal is also the proud partner/owner of NBC which has been floundering as of late and a show like firefly COULD very well change the direction with the targeted commercial audience of 18-30 somethings ... so who knows... in any case the future looks bright for the crew of Serenity... they have all talked about the movie not just being a single film but a trilogy...

as for the comics, they are a bridge between the series and the movie... filling us diehards in on what has happened in the time that has passed

the second issue came out this last wednesday (8/3) and the third is coming out 9/7 just in time for the movie =)
