Major download

Any idea why my patcher suddenly decided to start download a ton of stuff? Right now it's estimating the remaining time to 17 hours. :confused:

I've been playing just fine since release, downloading small patches as they've come along. Now it's downloading a ton of meshes.

Has any recent patch been this huge?

Gee -- do I smell bad or something? I'm sure at least one of you have patched the game in the last couple of days.

I havent had any problems......I had a problem with SWG and EQ2 though, where the client kept re-downloading a certain file. I solved it by deleting the file (u can see which one it is as it is downloading it) then running ScanDisc, after that I just let the client download the file. Didnt have any problems after that :)

Ok -- so no big-arsed patch of late then hehe. Guess I'll just leave mine running for another, oh, 10 hours and see what happens.

This is just unreal. The patcher spent the last two days downloading the entire game again. Tonight it started up fine and I've been playing for an hour. So I decided to log and get some UI bits sorted and, guess what, the patcher started downloading everything again.

Could someone help me out here? The official support forums are down. Why does my patcher keep downloading everything over and over?

Well -- after much cursing and shaking of fist at the screen I think I finally got it sorted. I had the beta client installed and, I assumed, fully patched. But after removing all traces of VG from my computer and re-installing it from the DVD's the problem seems (so far, knock on wood) to have gone away.

So if anyone else is having this problem my advice is to delete your beta installation and do a fresh install from the DVD's. :)

I had problems with the beta code, as well, and wiped and reinstalled the code clean from DvD. I would actually go as far as to suggest that everyone do this. The beta code we were all using was patched and repatched so many times that it was fairly kludgey towards the end. By wiping and reinstalling, at least you'll be getting a clean load without the now unused code from beta. Heck, you'll probably save a few meg of diskspace. :D
