I am probably making the wrong choice by going with Qaliathari....

I know the stats I need to focus on are Int,Wis and Vit with Intelligence being the primary.. So as a Human I can put 5 into Int, 5 into Wis and 4 into Vit every level passed ten of course.. The other race im comparing to is Dark Elf(+1 dex +1 wis +2 int every level sooo +6 int, +4 Wis, +3 Vit and +1 dex per lvl). now the stats are even for the most part but my main concerns is the Racial Bonuses and Racial Ability.. Humans get +10 to weapon skills and +10 to dodge as well as being Qaliathari you get Swiftness of the sands( 10 sec immunity to everything 15min recast ). Darks elves get 2% decrease in all energy cost and a summonable drake that gives a buff... What is the buff that Blood mages get anyway? I know clerics get +10% increase in healing. If thats the case im not really sure what to go with...

Wisdom is more important than INT (wis ups our crits and mana). I typically max both though, and put a point or 2 into Vit, as well as some into CON. I'm not sure yet, but I have a feeling that CON is going to be our 2nd most important stat, as we need those HP when we form blood pacts with the tank, and we constantly lose hp when in FoG stance. Vit isn't as important as we can tap our health for mana.

In the end, HP is usually > all, cus if you're dead you can't cast shit. :p

actually human is a pretty good choice, the main problem with going qaliathari is that the racial kinda sucks =/

I went DE for reduced mana cost, high int and spell damage.

Also, I disagree on wis being more important than INT. it all depends on the way you want to take your bloodmage, but int (spell damage) is WAY more useful than wisdom, although wis is definately the second stat I put into. not only is it needed for all of our nukes and rituals, but if you want your lifetaps to be useful you have to have high int (damage = healing!)
all the people complaining that EV isn't mana efficient, probably the fact that you've ignored INT and Spell damage is the problem. Don't get me wrong, it could be better, but if you go the all-out damage route its definately the main way you heal and is fine.

Ya, but I would guess that the gain from INT vs the gain from WIS is neglible. ATM I have only +85 crit gear, which gives me +8.5% crits, not to mention the extra mana. However I also have +11 or so crits from my WIS. That means nearly 1 in 5 times I will crit. My INT is also high, but I'm assuming that the extra dmg is only the dmg difference from spell min to spell max unless I'm mistaken (might very well be).

Ie. let's say a Cyst does 200-235. Isn't the INT dmg bonus only relating to the 35 point span there, and some of that is level related? I haven't seen any offical word saying that INT gives you dmg above the cap of what a spell is listed for. Again, this is a guess by me cus there isn't definitive info anywhere yet. If I'm getting crits 1/5 times (150% on crits), that means +10% dmg average and unless I'm wrong, it applies both to the spell that lands and heals, so I could get massive heals from crits with vein.

Again, I have both max or within a couple points of max, but I put the pts into WIS 1st, then INT when I see wis is maxed.

I'd be curious to see exactly how INT and WIS are applied, cus all I have seen is general descriptions. If anyone knows of definitive descriptions that are more than conjecture, I'd love to see em.

hrm, it is tough because I try to keep both near max with vit close behind.
I focus on INT first because I'm a DE and we get that cap bonus, and its useless if you don't max it. I agree that the crits are sweet though =). I'm currently at 155 spell damage though and boy does that make a difference!

Part of the problem with INT I think is that there are no hard numbers on that tool tip as opposed to wisdom, which says exactly how much crit you get from your stat.

EDIT: Let me see if I can get an official word on this...

OK, official word from Avair:
Int Increases the damage from a spell.
Int will slide up the damage range of the spell.
so:
"It should increase Min and Max. If it was normal 100-200 an int point might make it 105-205"

Sweet, good to know. Even if its not a firm number ("might make it"), at least it clears the other portion up.

Thanks Jeters.

yeah he was just giving an example. basically bottom line is that INT = +spelldmg range.
