I've tried everything. All video tweaks, defragment, change ini, download hotfixes, yet all other players I see lag really bad. My latency bar is always in the "green", and my FPS is always 50+. Comp specs are at the end of the video, but if you cannot watch the vid:

-Asus P5b deluxe
-Core 2 Duo e6600 OC'd to 3.0ghz
-Crucial Ballistix pc2 1000 (2x1gb)
-EVGA 8800gtx
-Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
-2x 250GB Seagate Perps in Raid0
-PC Power & Cooling 750W Silencer PSU
-Windows XP SP2 all patched up

I know a fair amount about PCs, yet cannot find the problem through extensive research. I am truly stumbled. This exact same problem happens to a friend of mine, who lives in a different city (same state; TX), and has completely different comp. specs. If anyone has anything to try, please post it as I'm willing to light yankee candles and chant to my computer in order to get this game to work. All other games work fine.

Maybe its just the dimensions of the movie player but I am just not really seeing the issue well.

are you kidding me bro? watch when he jumps off the rocks or near the very end. he skips around like crazy. At the beginning when he's turning in 360s instead of being a smooth motion it is choppy.

I'm not seeing anything terribly "unusual" for VG here either.

The only thing I see is that the goblin looks a bit jerky, but that may be due to the goblins connection to the server. Jerkiness like the goblin has is typically due to server connection lag, which is between any point, not just the one player and the server, but between the server and all players.

The rotation speed of the orc player seems "normal" for VG. It is just the way it is.

It could also be a setting somewhere, such as a character animation slider.

I'd say run 3dMark05 and 06 and if the numbers look good don't worry about it. If your numbers are fine that means it's all on Sigil/VG and there is likely little to nothing you can do about it.

I walk perfectly fine, the others that I see are the ones that skip around. Do you not see him at the very end skipping around everywhere?
EVERYONE skips around, just not my char.
But when my friend views me, he says that I am skipping around. Yet he walks unaffeced on his screen.
NPCs don't skip, only other players.
3dmark06 runs fine as well as every other game. There's something wrong with this game.

I've easily figured this out just from reading. You are running exceptionally well and have the kind of system specs it takes to play Vanguard, most do not. We're lagging severely and hitting 0fps in Khal when we first load lots of scenery. Even on just "balanced" settings. I have a three year old 2.66GHz P4 with 512kb L2 cache non-HyperThread overclocked to 2.78GHz married to 2GB of regular standard channel DDR400 RAM (1024x2), an ATi Radeon X800 Pro (256mb of 256bit GDDR3 memory and dual 450MHz ramdacs running through 8x AGP), Windows XP Home Edition with SP2, 120GB 7200rpm 8mb cache EIDE Maxtor hard drive and a 4MBps high speed cable connection. Out in the wilderness after I spin around and cache my surroundings I play pretty "ok" and can even sneak my in-game dummy settings to "high quality" if I'm feeling brave (I overclock my Radeon to 550MHz for the ramdacs and 500MHz for the GDDR3 memory). Basically, you're seeing the REST of the server's players lag HORRIBLY through your computer's gorgeous, god-like eyes. Soon when I get an E4300 and overclock it to 3.0GHz with 4GB of dual channel DDR2-800 memory (run through Windows Ultimate) and an 8800 GTX v.card through a new high end PCIe mobo (including a 10000rpm RAID compatible hard drive) I will be in your world, and Vanguard will finally look as pretty as EverQuest2 does right now. (Although the horses and actual characters in Eq2 are WAY better than Vanguard's design but oh well, not many are smart enough or mature enough to agree with me on that one, though I must admit Vanguard's global world is far nicer than Norrath! If only we could import the Eq2 character and mount graphics into Vanguard, lol, we'd have the PERFECT game)!

Well like I said, I can't make it out well from the video.

Can I tell you that I have a much lesser system and other characters do not seem to lag and skip anywhere near as bad as you describe. In cities its a bit bad that way , but not out while I am grouping in the middle of nowhere. They are all nice and smooth unless there is a lag spike or something.

The above explanation would make sense in cities where everyone is lagging hard (except you maybe), but not out in the country where, for most of us, VG runs just fine.

sorry bro, but that doesn't make much sense. I'm pretty sure you would see the lag too.

Atrum, the "laggy" characters thing your experiencing is not a bug, it is a "feature" of any MMO that allows 56k users. There is a motion prediction system built into the game, which allows the clients to send extremely rudementary movement packets to the server (at far less frequent intervals than, persay an FPS). Using the lesser amount of movement data, it then attempts to predict where your character is moving, and moves them that direction until it recieves another movement update from your client, if you moved a direction or way that the system didn't predict, then it bounces your character to it's new actual location.

To other characters, this shows up as you lagging around. Jumping around on rocks, is simply something that cannot be predicted, therefore the predicition system fails even more miserably, and the "lagginess" becomes vastly more apparent.

So, it is not your system, it is Vanguard. And it is a "feature", the only way you'll get them to pull it out is if you can get them to make the game broadband only (fat chance of that).

If that is true, i don't get why it occurs for EVERYONE, instead of only the people with 56k. Maybe it's time to quit, this is the worst feature I've ever seen put into a game. I played EQII and WoW and this didn't happen.

Anyone who logs on to some random fansite's boards and asks a technical question of a bunch of other gamers, many/most of whom are not comptuer experts and certainly not developers, then decides to leave the game based on their inconsistent answers.....probably should.

Not everyone is experiencing what you are, but if you're so eager to leave over what is, in all honesty, a minor cosmetic (if annoying) problem you're having, feel free. If you want to find out what's really going on, don't assume ANYONE here knows what they're talking about, and /bug it, ask a dev on official forums, etc.

It occurs for everyone, because everyone is throttled down to 56k. Just so your aware, this actually helps the servers hold more people (less traffic per person allieviates many bandwidth concerns).

As far as I'm aware, motion predictions systems are in pretty much every MMO. There are a great many factors for how obvious it may be, and it will probably take a good deal of time to tune it (and, it's an extremely low priority, since it is essentially "fluff").

Also, note that without the motion prediction system, if someone lags out, there character simply freezes (while it may continue on their screen), then when the connection is restored, the player is returned to the location where they paused (as opposed to being allowed to move to the new location). This is something more often seen in FPS games (which also have much greater bandwidth per player, and restricted level design).

You're such a ****in retard bro, it makes pvp impossible because I have no idea where the person I'm fihgitng is. It's kind of hard for a melee class to hit someone if one moment they're here, then the next moment they're there.

Second of all, why and the **** would I leave over something that affected everyone else but not me, that would be reason to stay.

I already left the terrible game, it needs some help.
