Default Decon...

Is one still able to use decon to get ultra-rares like Prime Silkbloom or Attuning Powder of Hexes?

If so, what would be the best items (light armor) to decon to have the best chance of getting them?

Green light armor of T3 or T4 for the attuning powder. Any yellow T4 light armor (if there was a chance it would drop).

Thanks very much for the info - do you know if the item has to have spell damage focus on it for a chance at getting the hex powder?

Oh - and does it matter which level of decon recipe you use - would it be possible to get them using the Apprentice Deconstruction recipe?

Or is it better to wait and get the next tier's deconstruction recipe to get a better chance of getting them?

This being my first post, I'm hoping I'm not breaking any of the posting guidelines by linking this (I read the rules and didn't see any reference to such at least), but they have a good decon guide by RennGent over at vanguardcrafters.com. I'm not going to pretend to understand it completely since I only started playing last week myself. It can be found at:

Hopefully it helps some.

Nope, doesn't matter what type of item you break down it's petty much the same chance for everything.

Quick Poll!--How many deconstructions does it typically take everyone to get the resonating H3x3s?

I know they have tweaked the rarity of it seemingly every patch. as of late it's been like more rare than orange dusts at about 15 or so tries.

I"m not aware of any other way to get Orbs or Resonating Dusts/Powders. If someone has a secret for this, please correct me.

And if you think that you're going to find enough yellow items on the exchange to do decon, you've got another think coming =)

With the current state of economy (at least on Varking), I'm getting 1G each for 'normal' Resonating Powders that result from blue item decon.

It's almost more profitable now to just break things all day and sell the mats than to focus on any meaningful crafting.

This is an important distinction that Meradin has made -- OP asked about Attuning Powder of Hexes, which would come from Green items only.

Resonating Powder of Hexes, which is far more sought after in my experience (because it can go on so many more things) only results from Blue items.

Just a point of clarity.

Good answers, all!
