Yup, like it says... browsers work fine, but nothing else will connect. Games, messenger apps, windows update via control panel, ftp client, etc.

I've recently moved and am using a different router than before, but my roommate isn't having the any issues. All other local network functionality is normal as far as I've seen so far.

So any ideas?

I thought about that, but firewall on or off it makes no difference. And I didn't change any settings between the move. I haven't played around in the router as of yet, guess i should see what's hiding.

well perhaps the router only needed to be reset. I was going through options and decided to change the ending IP addy so the router will only give out a certain amount of connections. and when it refreshed, ding, stuff works. hooray for technology.
