Default Video Card has Died

So my video card crapped out on me last night and was wondering if anyone would recommended a good replacement. Here is my current build:

Core 2 Duo E6850
8800 GTS
nForce 680i
CORSAIR 520W
Patriot 4GB (2 x 2GB)
Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer
Seagate Barracuda 320GB

Unfortunately money is currently an issue, so I am trying to keep it around a $100. I usually play at 1680 x 1050. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Check out a 4870 from ATI or go for a Nvidia 260. Those are around $100 I think. If you're looking for DX11 you might want to check out the ATI 5770 or 5750 although they have underperformed the 4870 but around 10%.

Not so much. $100 is really entry-level for a gamer card. Ideally you want to really target the $125-175 range for mainstream cards. Those cards will be considerably more powerful than the sub-$100 range.

Evga 9800 GT $99 post rebate

Evga GTS 250 $135

Evga GTX 260, Core 216 $160

XFX 5750 $140 - DX11 compliant (if I recall it's power is a touch lower than the less expensive GTS 250)

XFX 5750 $175 - DX11 compliant (bounces around the performance of the GTX 260, typically a hair lower)

Thanks guys, for the recommendations. That is kinda what I noticed when I was searching. May just need to find a way to put a few more dollars into it.

Who is the manufacturer of the old card? Pretty much regardless of age if it's a lifetime coverage manufacturer you should be able to get some trade-in value if you get a new card through them and send them your old.
