It looks like WildStar.
Not my favorite art style...I like a bit more grit and more realistic materials / weapons. it has that simple polygon look that you see with WoW and other games that are shooting for LOW system requirements.
I think I'll like it more when I see it in motion. These screenshots are definitely MUCH newer than the video they showed. The distance blur looks really nice, the lighting and shadows are well done...it needs anti-aliasing badly.
At any rate, it appears they agree with us on the need to start some marketing.

To me it looks like maybe a WoW next expansion look. I have to see it in full movement to make a educated criticism though.

I just saw these screenies over on massively. I must say I don't like them one bit. The characters are way too cartoony for my taste. When we saw some of the buildings and scenery in the earlier video they released it gave the impression that the player and npc models would look a bit more serious than this. Giants shoulders and tiny heads.. sigh.. Thrud anyone?

The art style is fine with me. It's really hard to nitpick when all you have are three screen shots.

I disagree! We have amazing and well-honed nit-picking powers!!
I need only a HINT of information in order to start the nit-picking.
Speaking of which...I thought the sword the Almain guy is carrying looked like a bug dull lump...like the weapons are totally Fisher-Price or something. It's possible that it's not the blade we're looking at, but actually a scabbard. That would be neat if there were sheathes for weapons.

Yeah I don't care for it, but art, or story, are not my main reasons for playing a game.
Bad sound effects and music can kill a game for me. Remember in RIFT beta Fozz? Those horrible sound effect ewww.
Bad or over done mechanics will kill a game for me.
Poorly implemented quests will kill a game for me.
Bad combat mechanics
Shitty UI etc...
Art and story though I can get past. Not like we are likely to see Copernicus to fruition anyway. The writings on the wall. These planned leaks are the hand you see grasping up out of the quick sand just as it disappears from sight.

Painterly art style? WTF? Way to try to bite off of GW2 while making zero sense.
I guess they didn't have enough money to keep eyes...he seems entirely blind. There art style doesn't look remotely like a painting. It looks like a computer-generated cartoon... like Pixar or Disney animation. He goes on to talk about Disney animation...so where the heck does that painterly comment fit in there?
I think he was taking a dig at GW2. I have no idea why...maybe they are bitter about it, or about WildStar releasing their graphical style a year before they did and getting credit for it around the web.

It's not a sword. The 'top' part of what he is holding that looks like a blade is actually on his armor (if you look to the left and right of that 'blade' you can see the other 'indents' in the armor). To me, it looks like a cup. Or goblet. Or drinking horn. I'm thirsty.
edit: It looks 'paintsy' to me. Specially the mount in the dverga picture. I totally get where they generate that comment. It's not as 'watercolour' as GW2, but it does looked painted to me.

Update
Further reports indicate that it's not just Big Huge Games that's shutting down but all of 38 Studios. An anonymous source formerly employed at 38 sent Kotaku the following details:
38 Studios just laid off its entire staff, both Providence and BHG studios are being shuttered.
We have not received a paycheck since April 30th.
On May 15th, we found out we were not getting paid when our checks did not hit our accounts.
Our medical insurance runs out tonight at midnight.
We found this out when an employee's pregnant wife was told by her doctor, this was on Tuesday 22nd May this week.
The company has not communicated anything concrete to the team throughout this process, leaving team members to figure out insurance stop-gaps (where people could afford it), etc. on their own.

Blow the Bar? Really? Do you really want to toss out lines like that Moorgard? He makes it to easy lol.
How exactly would you raise the bar on movement? Do they ballet dance? "Lock and Pop"? The "Robot"?......
When your a "Shark" your a "Shark" all the way....whistles "Westside Story" Shark theme....
I don't find it painterly I find it "Looney Toon" like. GW2 painterly (and I'm not a big fan of GW2 art either). I like more of a dark real world style.

That is so shitty...it's like literally an exact repeat of what happened with Sigil.
HOoooooly crap. I wonder what happens to the game...will somebody buy the assets? Or will it just sit on a hard drive in Curt Schilling's basement so he can show his buddies for the rest of his life?
I feel so terrible for the workers at the studio...they clearly got massively screwed. There's even info beginning to surface that 38 Studios had some shady stuff going on with the way they were doing business inside (and outside) of Rhode Island.
The people over on 38 Studios are blaming everyone under the sun... Curt and the other big wigs are of course pure as the driven snow and just got screwed over by all the evil people.
I think it seems much more likely that there was BS going on for quite some time...maybe a few years. No idea when it started, but maybe when their first release date slipped and they started looking at the Rhode Island deal, people started seeing dollar signs and forgot all about making a great game.
This thing stinks all the way around. I think they should appoint some bulldog special prosecutors and turn the entire thing upside-down until they find out the truth.

You should go ask ole Bossner if he wants to join our GW2 Guild LMAO.
I told you we would be seeing all those guys in GW2 of course they will never admit their identities.
Now all thats left is for the lurid stories that are sure to come just like Sigil.
I think it is a shame. I also had high hopes for them to deliver but since playing GW2 well they kinda went in my rear view mirror. Still it is a blow for gaming and others who might have gaming aspirations.
On the bright side maybe GW2 can recapture what was lost by being awesome.
I thought I was going to be all giggly going to 38watch and reading but I guess I don't have the Grinch in me after all. No sense kickin a guy when hes down. I do feel sorry for them as well because I know how I felt with VG.
We will find out how much of a game they had shortly I'm sure theres plenty a mad out there.
I'm sure the taxpayers will love picking up the tab as usual. That still angers me!

I actually (no lie) sent him a PM about 10 minutes ago that said:
"Maybe time to take another look at GW2?"

I'm a horrible person.
Other than Bossner, I do feel pretty sorry for the other die-hard fans. I'm posting politely and sadly over there right now.

*I*, personally, am glad that they died. I didn't like the concept, I didn't like KoA, I didn't like the secrecy, I didn't like it. Another dead WoW clone. Good riddance.
For those of you about to say, "What about the employees?!?" I will remind you of Clerks and Death Star Politics.

I feel more for the taxpayers actually.
Who really knows if there was even a halfway complete game? Saying it was WoW like may be giving it way more credit then it deserves.
