However, I know what you mean. SV goes through these cycles. At one point, there was a period of like four months in which not a single post was made. It happens. Now is a lull period that just coincidentally happened to start at the end of of Loam's insanity. It doesn't actually have anything to do with it.
The number of visitors/logins hasn't dropped (I say that but when your Active Members number ten, even one leaving is a 10% drop). People are still looking and reading, just not posting (cause they are most likely in protest).
It will be what it will be but whatever it will be will be a bit more civil.

While I'm nobody's protester, this whole affair reminds me of the Salem Witch trials.
My opinion: the otherwise excellent group of posters here created some unnecessary group hysteria and centered it on one person, who, regardless of his actions, only fueled the madness.
To think of how to end this, consider how those trials ended (metaphorically speaking, of course).

All of us have years of posting on this and other related forums, but mmorpgee was just being overly sensitive and lashed out at everyone. If it was just me being an asshat, there would be no reason to attack others or label them with the same brush.

That period of four months happened because no one (including most moderators) did not know that the site was up. The current dirth of community exists because the bitterness and hatred drove community people away.
A naysayer is not enough to kill discussion. What happened to the discussions on GW2 that people were so interested about? If it was just me, you would have banned me and kept discussing (through the beta event weekends and the release date annoucement). Sadly, there is no discussion without a two-way street of opinions. A bunch of eager fans saying "Oh, I like this" or "I am really looking forward to that" does not cut it for a discussion and dies.
The community died, not from a naysayer, but from the witch hunt.

I still think this has all been blown out of proportion and is a great shame. Is the Volcano final then? Isn't there some way we can open a dialogue and get people talking again? I enjoy checking in on SV and feel comfortable posting here, even though I am not the most eloquent of posters. It's a bit sad that a group of intelligent and thoughtful individuals can't reconcile and get things worked out. Plus, Joodah's ranting again over on the VG forums and that's always fun to discuss.  |

There has been a lot of things to discuss about Vanguard. i have been following their progress a lot and they have made some surprising changes. Strangely, the GW topic has fizzled as people wait for next August and VG has more to talk about.

On 05-25-12 (the day this thread was created), we had 17 Active Members. That has now increased to 24. We had 31 before Loam started pissing people off.

Nah you used to be none-confrontational, it was only this year that you started calling people love struck teenagers or whatever. Like I said on page one, I hope you can switch it around because I had no problem with the old Loam.
Also I don't think perfect means to antagonise. I thought he was getting at me sometimes too, but I think he is just a joker type and only means things tongue-in-cheek. It's one of those lost in translation in to text things.

The only reason I bring it up is cause people thought that the FORUMS WERE GOING TO DIE because one guy got sent to the Volcano.
It's not a cheap shot if there are numbers to back it up, I don't think. I mean, it's not a cheap shot to say that the GOP is going to outspend the Democrats because of anonymous donations and end up buying a few elections, is it?

I take your point perfect. But it wasn't just Loam. The shock waves effected, MMORPG, Asheman (I've only just noticed is Ash A-She-Man?!.. Interesting) Vordox, Loam and Myself. In fact nearly the whole of the gang. Heck, it's even effected Fozz, who hasn't posted for a while.
But, I think it's time to move on. See if we can't get stuff sorted. Can't you let Loam post his findings about Vanguard? I was interested to hear about the changes, there's a certain amout of uproar over there at the moment that would make for good discussion.
Oh, and no problems MMORPG, good to see you back!
