Default Who's heading back for FTP? And how long?

Looks like they're getting close (Hobart has a thread with a new FTP client on Test) and I am sure they are rushing to beat the GW2 release.

I know most of y'all are hitting up GW2 but I'm curious if anyone else is going to login for FTP (if only for a while).

SOE has redone the FTP matrix so it is actually playable: as of today it's 3Plat, All Chat Channels, Access to Mail/Broker and Items up to Blue/Yellow (still clarifying the yellow but I think that's what Zatozia means by limited).

That's more than playable for what I want to do - which is hit up the sub-40 dungeons for some old school VG dungeon crawling.

As always I can't imagine playing more than a month (you never know) but with a FTP population influx it should be easy to find people to level and dungeon crawl with that first month.

I say that now ..who knows if i'll do it.

I'll certainly take a look. Not sure if I'll stay for any time but I'll have a look.

I figure this is the last chance to do do any of that with the influx of FTP. I don't think it'll last so now or never...

Silius' comments later on seem pretty official - main issue is that it looks like no yellow for FTP right now - just blue + limited (I assume a new FTP rarity level equivalent to yellows or some other silly crap to limit yellow drops).

We'll see.

I'll be giving it a whirl, wonder if we can get some sort of SVM (Silky Venom Members) guild going on? Just for chatting / general grouping ect.

I'm back, and I'm loving every minute of it!

As for GW2... I can't stand it, and it is just beyond comprehension to me that people are so into it.

I skipped the open because I correctly assumed it'd be a clusterpuck but I'll probably roll a new toon on Sunday.

I don't see myself going back, but I'd like to hear the experiences you guys have with population and the overall changes they made to starting areas, the "golden path", etc.

I've started leveling an Alt. A Raki Druid - I like playing the combo (I'm pretty sure Raki's couldn't be Druids originally) though I'll have to pay up if I want to go past 20.

So far light population in the starting areas - I'm always running into people. I don't know about the golden path, but I always like the Tanvu starting area and would usually start there if it was remotely possible.

I don't like that they got rid of the option of starting in your original area (at least I think they did - I didn't see an option to do that).

I don't think there is any reason not to play except if you've already done everything sub-40 or sub-50. I don't see myself staying around too long but it would be fun to do a few of the original dungeons with a group and this seems like the only chance for that to happen again.

You can still start in the original starting area. Upon Character Creation there is a two windowed option: One for Isle of Dawn and one for Homelands.

Home towns just sends you to Tanvu (Kojan), and the other two places for Qalia and Thestra. So far as I can see there's no way to go back to your original hometown (if it wasn't one of the three revised starting areas). SOE is just crazy - it is fine to create IoD, it is fine to buff up three older areas and make them defaults - but there should always be the option to go back and start from the original racial starting area - there's some interesting lore there (via the intro diplomacy quests) and frankly some nice chrome: for example the Vulmane starting area felt very remote and appropriate. That said there were some starting areas that weren't that good (Raki/Wood-Elf) for adventuring.

I played for less time than it took me to download the game again. 2 hours was plenty to remind me how bad this game is.

Eh whatever floats your boat. I'm still enjoying it but FTP is a bit limiting. Either I'll need to quit again or buy a sub. Being unable to use yellows is crippling after a certain point.

So you are now considering paying a sub fee because the game went f2p and is in a worse state than it was 4 months ago? Eh, whatever floats your boat.
