Default What is broken about rogues?

Hey guys, sorry if this has been answered but I'm really curious about it.

I keep hearing that rogues are really broken right now. I've tested it to level 6 and it seems okay, but obviously that's low levels so maybe they just break as they get higher...But anyway, what all is wrong with rogue? Are there plans to fix it from the devs?

Thanks a bunch.

EDIT: BTw, I'm talking more in the PVE sense.
EDIT2: Also, is there any reason not to use duel daggers? I really like them.

Yes, the rogue class is broken. However, much has been fixed during the last couple of patchs and more will be fixed by release.

Stealth - Sealth for pvp was broken in a major way. It did not work, everyone could see us. As of last night that is no longer the issue. Stealth now works for pvp. Go and backstab the casters till your hearts content.

Posions - Our bread and butter. It was not working at all. It has been fixed. Posion now works but we do not get it untill level 20. Maybe the level will be lowered at launch.

Duel Wield - There have been some issues with duel wield and how it relates to our defense. With duel wield our damage increased and our defense decreased. The game was deducting from defense due to us not using a parrying dagger. This has been fixed. Using duel wield still increases our damage but no longer takes away from defense. We just do not get the added defense do to not using a parrying dagger. Which is the way it should be.

Pocket Lint - Save your lint. There is a book out there somewhere that shows us what we can do with it.

Those are the major issues are / were having. Two of them have been fixed. Lets hope poison gets fixed before launch.

Im sure there a couple of minor issues with the rogue class. Just as there are minor issues with all classes. If there are any, i have not noticed them.

I recomend the use of duel wield. It really is a toss up. Duel wield gives you higher damage and dagger + parry gives higher defense. Its really your choice. If you are going to duel wield, use two daggers. Some say use a dagger + sword, or dagger + axe. I say use two daggers. I have experimented with dagger + sword and found duel daggers to be better.

^^ duel wield daggers works best for me. Right now for me I just want the poisons.

I believe Sigil will really make this class stand out from other rouges from other games. My theory is there having a balance complications with other classes. I wander how the beserker(when its out) will have an effect on the rogue. I guess we will see

That's really interesting about the lint. Thanks for that info.

Also.. about daggers... I believe , though I could be horribly wrong, that daggers/kinves may be one of the few/only 1-handers that give an increase to crit chance. (I know that they give 10% bonus and that clubs/maces do not.) Being a burst damage class, I think daggers will turn out to be the weapon of choice, which is great cause it really rubs me the wrong way to see rogues running around, backstabbing with longswords, not to mention maces!

As far as I can tell, they are the only 1 handers to have crit increase. I actually don't see any reason to not use a dagger, despite your class, unless you are a caster or not allowed to (Like a DK an't use daggers). With chain enders being based off criticals, the 10% increased chance can only help.
Also, with both hands hitting at once (hence the 11+4), it seems to me that only the mainhand weapon needs to be a dagger. The offhand can be used to train up another weapon skill. Also, in beta (not sure now), making equip macros wouldn't work with 2 of the same type of weapon, like 2 Adventurer's Daggers. May have been fixed now. Would be nice to have a confirmation with this/

Is there anyway to confirm if the Fun With Lint book is in the game yet? It really driving me crazy collecting all this lint, its taking up bag space/bank space and it doesnt even go into the rogue pouch

Anyone that actually knows about this book, post where you got it please.

Cheers

Yes, I got it last night (via pickpocket).

Though at level 14 it's says I'm not of sufficient level to use it though.

Sneak/hide skill ups are broken to the extent that its currently almost impossible for a rogue (or probably ranger) to skill these up to anything like a workable level through normal in-game behaviours (i.e. sneaking around).

The Fun With Lint book does exist - but doesnt do anything at the moment.

Poisons still aren't properly implemented and don't work, even at lvl 20.

Word is that these issues will be patched shortly, but they didn't expect any rogues to hit lvl 20 this quickly.

Rogues are supposed to be getting a mini-revamp post launch, so we're all waiting with bated breath to see what comes of this and when!
