Yep that was such a great idea. Wouldn't mind having a go at that myself sometime. But yeah, I'm just so happy it turned out well. I can't even remember the last time I had a game that challenged me like this. It would be so great if they get to make some sequels and then maybe some other genres of games too.

I will eventually buy this. I bought GW2 instead and I still have 3 other games I haven't finished so I can't really justify to the GF that expenditure since she knows I'm game heavy and lightly playing at the moment lol.
It is definitely on my must purchase list though.

Same here. Reckoning is still taking up all my gaming time...I've got DCUO on my computer waiting for my wife to try it out with me at some point... No room or time for another game at the moment.
I'm 60+ hours into Reckoning, and I think I'm only about halfway done. They certainly packed in a lot of quests and dungeons.
But yeah, eventually I'll get Grimrock. It doesn't seem like a game that will go out of style.

I'm still waiting on a patch to let me adjust FoV and move the camera further away. Others have actual game breaking quests and bugs that need patching. It's kind of sad that 38 Studios released Amalur over two months ago and no patches yet. The only thing they've said is that they are working on a patch. No timeline and no idea what will be included in the patch. And that update was from about a month ago.
I doubt I'll buy Copernicus. They can't patch a single player game then good luck with an MMO.

I won't make excuses for the issues with Reckoning. There are definitely some glaring bugs and things they shouldn't have missed, and it shouldn't take this long to get on the ball.
However, Reckoning was created by an entirely different studio than Copernicus. I'm not sure I'd hold it against the 38 Studios folks on the MMORPG yet.
Also, despite the issues, Reckoning is the first SPRPG in a long time that I've enjoyed playing. I'll overlook at lot more when a game is fun.
Sorry for the derail. Grimrock looks good.

Updated my spoiler post as much as I'm going to do. Whatever is missing is no doubt on the web by now anyway.

That was posted on April 13, just two days after release. Sounds like Grimrock is a great success for them.

I'm glad for them And for us... if it lets them make some more great games!
Something I always wondered is how companies like that manage to create so much attention for their game. Part of the success of this one is probably because all the old RPG fans helped spread word of mouth. But it still seemed like word of their game spread pretty far and wide considering it's such a small indie team. I'd love to know how they did it. There are other small indie RPG's that nobody ever hears about and are glad to get 1000 sales or something, and I bet they would give anything to learn how to make one which is such a huge success. Making a great game is obviously part of it, but whatever they did to get the word out was a big deal. I saw it even on big gaming websites which is pretty impressive.

Played for ten or so hours yesterday. Made it to Dungeon Level 6 where I was jumped by 3 Spiders and an Ogre. Beat them all, handily.
It's OK. Once I learned not to go toe-to-toe with anything, it became very easy. I started over thrice, removing Mages completely from the party. I probably won't go back to it: I have no incentive to see and do the same things over and over for the next 20 levels.

I'm still having fun, nearly at the end of dungeon level 9. Mobs are getting hard, some scary ones that can kill you with 1 or 2 hits, and there are some huge fights in rooms where you end up against 10 or more enemies in one go. Love the puzzles too, some really had me thinking.
Combat repetition is starting to sink in a bit now, but I still enjoy it. I do wish there was more to do in combat though. I have two melee guys at the front which involves nothing but right clicking their weapon, and I have two casters at the back but they each just have one 'best' spell which gets used over and over. Definitely something I'd like to see improved in the future. Although my Warrior has multiple weapons to choose from now and I some of these higher level mobs are immune to various stuff so that is something.
But I'm still having fun and I really want to see what happens in the later stages of the game. I'm assuming I'm getting near the end now. I would have finished it ages ago if it wasn't for Project99 hooking me like crazy.
