Orb of Pure Magic?
Hello.
As an lvl 19 Carpenter I would like to start makin Barbed Wood Bows, but not sure where and how to get Orbs of Pure Magic?? I have gotten one, and think it was a payment for a work order (I have done hundreds of them), but only gotten one.
Is there any other way to get these orbs of pure magic, I mean U need 4 of them to make ONE bow. I hope soemone can help me a bit here?
If not there won't be many bows crafted I guess ?
Thx.

Decon has a possibilty of giving you orbs. They used to be a lot more common in WO rewards (which was probably a good thing). But they got nerfed down to 1 in 50 instead of 1 in 10. I think this kind of needs a look, as there are a lot of recipes that use them.
And I feel really sorry for the guys that need 4 of them for one recipe If you are on Woefeather, I might be able to help you out, as I have 12 or so of one kind. But then again, I don't know if that is the right kind you are looking for. I thought it was "of Pure Matter", but I am not sure.

What recipes aside from bows use them? I've gotten a whole bunch of different orbs from WO satchels, but none of my recipes seem to use them.
I do know that orbs of pure matter are used to make some really nice iron horseshoes...but that's "of matter" not "of magic".

Well, I am a blacksmith. I forget which orb it is, but I use them to make nice Horseshoes as well as Tin Runes (which I have not "wasted" these rares on yet, as I think these runes are consumeables).
I think every crafting class uses different ones, because I have 12 or so orbs of one type that I have absolutely no recipes for at all. While I pretty much use all of the other type up making horseshoes for peope.

Speaking as an Artificer, I can assure you I would happily give you 3 Distilled for 1 Pure Magic if you were on Florendyl.

253 Work Orders thru lvl 17, and ZERO Orbs of Pure Magic.
I've also been doing decon every wood weapon that I've seen as a drop, figure 30+. It's just a shame that we need such a hard to get item to make a simple weapon. While the bow is a great bow, there really should be a bow that is "less awesome" that we could make, and still be functional.
I went Artificer/Carpenter to build ships, but as a Ranger the added benefit was the concept of building bows, and right now, there really is no reason for me to craft ANYTHING until I reach the mid 20's, when I can complete the shipwright quests. 20 odd levels of grinding just isnt worth it, it'd be nice to be able to make some fucntional items in there.

A side question, but can you confirm that in your Crafting XP bar it says Artificier and not Carpenter. The reason for asking is that I'm to Artificier/Carpenter (I hope), but in the beta it said Carpenter afther I specialized I'm pretty sure it did anyways. I'm just affraid I did something wrong when I choose specialisatio.
Thx.

Which deconstruct option do you need to choose for a chance at orbs? Is it Dusts or Resources?
I too am trying desperately to find these Orbs of Pure Magic to make my hubby a bow. So far the only ones I've seen on the exchange are runing 90s per...sorry dear, but I can't even afford 4g for 1 stinkin chance at making a bow :P~

ok i figured it out at least from the tailors stand point. last night i was looking through all my recipes and trying to figure out which i wanted to play wiht now that i hit lv18. while doing that i stumbled across a tier 2 recipe (don't remember the name ) that turned a ratty hide into an orb and it was listed at the very bottom of the misc. recipes. i know i recieved this between lv 12 and 17 but not sure exactly which level. i suggest you take a look back through your recipes and read the descrition listed at the bottom of the write up it'll say something like "this recipe turns (something) into a magical orb" or something close.

Trust me, I am not lying, lol.
Before they nerfed the drop rates. I think I had about 20 orbs going from lvl 1-8. Then the bad patch game. Now, I am lucky if I get an Orb in 20 Work Orders. Deconning, I have probably done 20-30 decons, and I have received 4 orbs, I think. Better, but not great and definitely NOT guaranteed. I think the drop rate needs a boost IMO.
Also, I have only received orbs through dust decons on items. I have only done material deconning a few times though, but have not received any orbs.

Yep, mine says Artificier and not Carpenter, although at lvl 11, I chose the quest to do Carpentry, and had to make some wood staves to complete it.

I have gotten about 7 Orbs of Pure Magic just doing work orders. I'm a level 19 mineralogist. They are quite cheap on the Hilsbury broker going for around 10-15 silver. I've been selling mine to a carpenter. Of course I've been doing batches and batches and batches and craft for many hours in a day so the drop rate probably isn't that common. But they are dropping for me. Got one today and got one yesterday.....)

Thing is, at 15 silver each, you are talking 60 silver just for the orbs, not a big deal, but I can get a bow that is 60-60 damage for 50 silver on Hilsbury. So why would I spend more to make a lesser item?
Increase the droprate please!

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I agree that they should increase the drop rate. My point is that I am getting them in response to the OP. I'm selling mine to my carpenter buddy for 8-9 silver. Just sold him a batch of 4 yesterday.
I think that price of the bows are highly variable. He told me that the bows he can make go for around 60-65s on Hilbury. So he still does make a profit but I agree with him that it is a pain to get these items.

OK, I have started decon. to now to see what I got out. I have done 10-15 decons. to material and not dust and I have gotten 3 ORBS OF DISTILLED MAGIC not the ones I need!! I will try switching to dust instead when I get home, but I think the drop rates har are a joke!
