"You cannot do that yet"

I don't remember if "you cannot do that yet" is the exact phrase that I am getting SO MANY TIMES when clicking my ability hotkeys, but I should have it memorized.

Anyway, this past weekend I have been getting the message when trying to cast a heal or trying to cast Feign Death. I know the first thing running through your mind is "well duh, your cast timer hasn't reset!" but honestly it has! My Feign Death timer had been reset for over a minute, and while pulling i suddenly got....

"you cannot do that yet"
"you cannot do that yet"
"you cannot do that yet"
"you cannot do that yet"
"you cannot do that yet"
You have Died!

Now, all of us with FD, know its full of bugs right now and almost useless 50% of the time, but this same message has been appearing with my heal abilities.

Is this a common issue amongst us, or am I the black sheep?

I get that with multiple Necro abilities as well. A lot of the corpse magic spells are hit and miss when grinding due to this. It can get frustrating, but it's no big deal on my end. Your problem sounds a bit more serious. Just letting you know that you're not the only one!

You're not alone ... though it's only happened to me once with FD (never my heals yet). And yes ... I even made a point of bringing up the tool tip on FD to make sure that the counter had reset (though I hadn't used it in a couple of minutes) and it showed that the ability was available but I was still getting the "you cannot do that yet." message. ... At the time I was running for my life, but I'm fairly certain that there were no effects on me, but I did 'chunk' shortly afterward so I'm wondering if it has something to do with being near a chunk border ... haven't had time to test that though.

Is this happening during a high lag time? I only notice this when I lag.

I guess I count myself lucky at this point.

I'm usually running at 50-70fps, so I don't really lag often. Expecially outside of cities...

I believe that he means internet lag/packet loss (which would indicate server lag or problems between you and the server), not FPS lag (which would be a system issue).

The time that it happened to me I hadn't noticed any other indications of lag, though I didn't specifically look at my network status either. I know that I wasn't getting that message at other high network lag times ... rather just a delay between when I hit FD and when I actually did FD.

Precisely... I too am usually running around 50-70 FPS but I do lag. It's the nature of Internet Gaming. It is going to happen. Depending on your connection whatnot. And when I see that spike for a second I know that I am about to have lag.

Seems to happen after you've been harvesting or looting and you get "stuck".

In any event Esc or /endharvest or /endloot a couple of time will usually get you out of it.

And yes I've died to this bug before and it has been reported.

That could be something ... I know that the time that I encounted this I had recently harvested (in fact had harvested more recently than I had FDed.)

ohhh that just made me think of something.

You disciples know when you use Touch of Woe, then Leeches grasp it will tell you "You are already looting" , that could be the cause, i will run some tests later.

This happens to me occasionally, and it's not only annoying, but could easily cause an unfair death because it locks out all of my spells and abilities. The first couple times this happened, I didn't know what to think of it. My character would just stand there, kinda' with his staff up in the air, moving from side to side.
After a while, I just hit Esc when it happens, as tdewey10 also suggests works for him, and it lets you get back to business.

It does seem to have something to do with a harvesting attempt (although I don't harvest anything from corpses, necropsy doesn't count), but I can never seem to reproduce the problem.
Just hit Esc.

It looks like harvesting or looting is where we are getting to, so do some tests on this stuff and lets figure it out! =)

I'm gonna group and do absolutly no harvesting or looting and see where that gets me.

I figured it out!

When adding Text to a hotkey, for example..

/group **INC Heal %TO**
/Cast "Generic_spell_1"

it will cause this issue.

I took the text emotes out of the hotkeys and get no more delays.

I get this message ALL THE TIME when trying to Counterspell as a Psionic. There is a 15 sec refresh on Nullifying Field. Yet even when I try to use it when the ability is rdy, I get the message.

So I tried a macro that cancelled whatever spell I was casting and then /cast Nullifying Field -- still get the "NOT READY YET" message.

I get this problem with paladin heals.
