best duo combo?
Right now I'm thinking its the paladin/cleric combo.
Seen two buddies of mine take on things that people in groups of 4-5 were having trouble with at level 14-15.
What say you?

One thing I like about Vanguard is there's a lot of different combos that work really well together. Sorc and blood mage are a good casting duo. Psi and blood mage. With my early 20s blood mage I duoed for a bit with a druid and we were easily taking out even level 4 dots with a bit of kiting. As for tank combos, any tank and a blood mage are good (the blood mage ability to take a portion of the tanks damage and tap it back makes harder fights much easier). I've even duoed my blood mage with a monk that worked pretty well.
I bet even two blood mages would make for a sweet duo (okay maybe not so much!). But overall I like the way blood mage's have a lot of utility other then standard healing that compliment so many other classes so well.

I'd rather die with someone I like spending time with than survive with people I don't enjoy.
When I group, I group based on the player rather than their character.
p.s. That doesn't mean if I turn down a group it's because I don't like the person. Sometimes grouping isn't feasible for me for various reasons. I grouped a couple of hours today my warrior with a neromancer. Was fine. Company was good.

I've been in a Paladin/Disciple duo a bit lately. Works out very well for us. Was able to take out an even level 4 dot with 3 even level 3 dot friends tonight with only a bit of sweat.

Is this a miss post? Doesn't seem right in this thread at all hehe
My wife and I play the Cleric/Paladin combo. I actually just made the pally so I could play with together with her through the beginner area, but ended up sticking with the pally because I enjoy our combo a lot.
We have defeaten 5dot mobs one level above us, so it's definately a powerfull combo.
In the end, I would just pick what you would really like to play, and try it out.
You should prolly try to pick 2 classes that can start in approximately the same starter area, so you can group up fast.
One more good thing about the healer/tank combo: you can add any class and be ready to tackle tougher stuff. Since you already have 2 of the "needed" classes. Just makes starting groups a little easier again.

Hi, TwoOfUs.
Since you asked, no it was not a mis-post.
If someone asks me what the best duo in Vanguard (or anywhere) is, I will always say the class of my partner character doesn't matter at all.
Just the class of the player.

If someone is coming here asking for a good class combination to duo with I think it's safe to assume that they like the person they want to play with.
Anyway, the tank/healer combo is as strong as ever. I was duoing with a Blood Mage earlier to great effect. He kept me healed as well as doing good damage, and I could supplement it with my own lifetap healing.
You may also want to look at the vulneralbility/exploit chart and play classes that can help eachother in that regard.

I still disagree, Tem.
Let's pretend two warriors want to partner.
Then they should just pick stuff that they can kill together before they get killed back.
If a warrior/sorcerer wants to combo, then they should just kill stuff before they get killed back.
Every combination has a strength. When you pair two people known for damage per second, then you pick stuff that you can kill before it kills you back.
If you pair a shaman with a warrior, then yes you can tackle more since the shaman can throw in heals, but that by no means means the shaman/warrior is a better combination since they heal better but damage worse, and when the shaman runs out of mana, the warrior will die anyway without the extra DPS another offensive character could have given.

Everyone will say their combo of choice is the best. The simple fact is pretty much any combination can work out well if played right.

Bloodmage/ranger combo is awesome, since both the main bloodmage lifetap and the nuke provides weakenesses that rangers can use.

Well, yes, of course. But in the end there will always be a "best" duo. The healers in this game all have ways to last almost indefinately. Mana usually isn't the problem, from what I've seen.
I think that favored tank/favored healer will be the "best" duo for people who want to do the most content possible.

From what I've read (not personal experience) I think a high-level necro and a paladin / cleric would make a killer combo. My understanding is that the necro gets a spell that changes enemies into "undead." So if I understand it correctly, all of the clerics' and paladins' abilities that are super-effective against undead would become super-effective against everything if they've got a necro behind them... Plus, the necro brings a pet to the table, which allows for some off-tanking if necessary.

Well you want a combo that can easily take down 3-4dot names too right? So you'll want at least one healer for sure.

Hubby and I have experiemented with:
warrior/cleric combo--very hardy although we kill a bit slowly
psionist/necromancer combo-kills very quickly and can kill named 4 dots. But it is risky and if they get on us, we are dead.

PB&J = best combo evar!!!11!
Seriously though any healer and some other class would make a great combo. I have played my bloodmage duo with almost every other class with good results. Cant really say which one was the best.
