Default The jumping aggro bug really makes Safe Fall pretty useless....

I'm in Thelasen running around invisible and I get spotted by a drake.

I can run fast since I'm a Bard and can just train out of Thelasen, but there is another group there and I'd like to avoid that. I have Safe Fall though, and the mobs that have aggroed me are WAYYYYYY behind me by now - so far behind that they don't display on my encounter list anymore - PERFECT CHANCE TO JUMP OFF SINCE I HAVE SAFE FALL RIGHT?

WRONG.

No matter how far back your aggro is, if you jump off of something, all of their attacks (melee, ranged, magical etc) hit you one after another.

This holds true for levitation as well... I'm getting tired of /bug'ing it... either tell us why this works this way or please fix it.

Nino said on the Fires of Heaven forum that it's a known issue. And that it should be fixed soon. He also explains how, why and stuff.
I believe you can find the post with the Tracker.

Edit: Actually, he doesn't speak about Levitate, but run speed issue. Hopefully it's a similar problem and fixed at the same time. Quote:

"Leashing - This problem is/waas twofold. Continuing to damage an NPC with a damage shield for instance, resets the leash length, and modified run speed over 100% keeps creatures beating your butt as you try and flee. We've recently made a pass and reset ALL runspeed modifiers to not exceed 100% of normal runspeed in almost every case. Cheetahs can still catch you along with other creatures that should be fast. A hobbling zombie however, should not be able to run you down and kill you. We found a NPC two nights ago that was running around in solo area at 130% runspeed killng people left and right. We will continue to fix these as we find them as the script we ran may have missed a few here and there. There is also a bit of code that looks at whether or not a creature 'should' be able to get to you and if it for some reason can't, it ports to you. This was to remedy NPCs getting stuck, but has obvious adverse effects on classes that run extremely fast like bards. Creatures were teleporting to your location and beating you down; was good fun. This also should be remedied. On top of that, leash lengths were also brought in a bit, and we can continue to monitor it to make sure that you can get away, if that was your intention. The problem is trying to balance 'fleeing' against 'kiting'. If we make leashes too short, then we screw over classes that kite."

Bullshit, this isn't fixed, at least not on Live. Aggro a mob on a mountainside. Just smack it one time, no DoTs, no DS. Then run away with your speed song. Even while you are 30, 40m away, if you take a decent jump down the slope it will AUTO-hit you, from the distance, with all of its melee abilities and spells. It is still far away from you, but it is hitting you automatically while you are airborne.

It absolutely sucks sucks sucks, and is the reason why my 18 Bard has 10 deaths, instead of 8 or 9.

It shouldn't come as a surprise to any of us that flew griffons in Beta. The code worked the same way if you aggroed a mob while you were flying - it automatically beat the crap out of you, no matter how far above or away from it you were.

Call me pessimistic, but I see them fixing this around the same time as they make a Polished Shuriken hit for its listed damage, as opposed to hitting for the same as a Crude Shuriken. Which is, to say, when the cows come home.

10? Wow. I just broke 200 deaths last night, many are from the jumping/lev bugs. I'd hate to see how pissed off you'd be if you were in my shoes.

This is intended.

They don't want people sniping things from griffon so they threw in this sloppy system. I used to play a bard, I feel your pain.

This is just what I was told by a class lead, and it makes sense, but not for a long term mechanic. I hope Nino can come here and tell me I'm full of it. I'll stand up and applaud irl.. because this takes 2nd place only to the sheer amount of mobs that STUN.

"John was sitting in the park one day feeding the pigeons as he had always done, today was a perfect day and John was happily whistling while he fed his winged little friends. Not paying attention however, he hit one of the birds with a peice of bird seed. The bird flapped its wings in anger with him and made a pecking motion in his direction. John could feel that he could no longer move, he had been stunned by a harmless bird, and now the other birds seemed to take notice. John stood up but found he was stunned again, panic came over him and he dropped his bag of birdseed, but it was too late. As his foot hit the ground in front of him in his effort to run he found that he could not move yet again, the birds were chain stunning him. How could this be? John thought. These are grey con pigeons!! Then a thought came over him, one that brought a look of dread to his face. I'm in the world of Telon...

John died that afternoon from a flock of angry pigeons "
