It would be better to let cooldowns continue while offline
I didnt really understand what Sigil hoped to achieve by making sure recall stones, and other long-timer abilities such as Paladin points, dont come back while you are offline. It seems rather arbitrary, doesnt take into account the fact that the world continue to exist while you are offline, and most of all, simply encourage classes dependent on cooldowns, and ultimately, perhaps everyone, to just stay logged on abit when theyre done playing.
Ive seen people just alt-tab for an hour after they were done just to let the cooldowns come back. Ive messaged a paladin friend once to be greeted with an AFK message: (Done playing, afk cooldowns!).
I mean, lets be serious, we aint asking for rested XP, but tet the damn things return even when youre not playing.

Yes, it's like they are forcing you to wait out the time out.

Doesn't have to be instant cooldown because you log out. The timer could just continue.

um, NO. You log out for an hour, and log in THEN your recall is up. NOT instant on log out, that would bring lame to a whole new level.
This is exactly why i stay logged in while not playing. Lets be real here, an hour in game or out of game, WHATS THE DIFFERENCE you still dont get to use the damn thing.

Definately would like to see cooldowns on real-time not game-time. This way they count down online or offline.

I would disagree but since people can just idle online for hours to let their CDs repop it makes little difference.
might as well make CDs refresh offline so people dont idle online forever afk.

I guess I have learned to do without my abilities with long cool down. Just make myself forget about them and be all excited when they pop up. But if people are staying online for the sole purpose of beating down cool downs then all they are doing is eating up more server resource and that is bad in my book.

Agreed. I've been a culprit of that myself a couple times for my recall ability. Seems like an unreasonable limitation.

Thanks for the support all. Its rare to find such a concensus, and I'm hoping Aradune and co might notice it and take note

I agree, cooldowns should happen while you are offline or online.

I do not see any reason at all to allow cooldowns to work offline. Simply go find something else to do while you are waiting on your recall to be up or *gasp* explore the world they created for you. The game is easy enough as it is, just go do some adventuring while you wait. Plenty to do.

Yeah, doesn't make any sense the way it is now. Back when I played regularly, I just would alt-tab out and browse the net for an hour before I logged off. Or read a book, or whatever.

Leaving your computer on running VG when you go to sleep just so when you get home from work the next day you can recall is lame. It makes the computer practically inaccessible to anyone else who would need to use your computer(not everyone has a pure gaming computer).
Only ability I would care about having an offline cooldown would be Recall, the others aren't really a big deal and one could make an easy argument against it.

The long cooldowns don't bother me, as I can always find something to be doing if I need to recall. If I log in, and my recall is not available, I ride my horse, or if I am in town, I craft, or something.
Nonetheless, I am posting to let you know on a secret on how to make your computer experience better. If you want to keep Vanguard logged in, but allow someone else to use the computer, you can do this: alt-tab out of VG, then switch user to whomever wants to use it. Modern Windows OSes allow multiple logged in users simultaneously. That's what my SO and I do anyhow. We are both always logged in, and just use FSU (fast user switching) between accounts when we sit down. It's nice that we can have our individual settings too like: background image, color scheme, broswer favorites, cookies, music playlists, etc, etc.
Try it.

You cant idle on a pvp server so for some of us this is a huge issue, you either continue playing for an hour or live without the cooldowns (usually the latter).

It's more realistic that cooldowns should work offline, the world continues even if you're not online. Time doesn't stop.
