Rushing & The Nerf Bat
An interesting study, I have found that alot of people rush rush rush, to be the first to get to the top/get an item, or complete a dungeon. Only to be cry, complain and whine when things gets adjusted.
Why rush? Why blaze through the content or try to beat someone else? When you get an item, and then it gets adjusted, dont you have just yourself to blame?
So again I ask, Why rush?

You didnt hear anyone complain when they were the first few to exploit the southwatch missive quests which gave them a TON of exp for "being first".
You didnt hear any crafters complain about lvling crafting quick and getting certain recipes from NPC's before they got removed and turned into a drop because they were "being first"
You didnt hear anyone who pulled the CIS quest guy in the tent out to the plateau without any guards coming early on complain at all before it got nerfed. That was a benefit to being first.
You didnt hear people who bought the of striking weapons that are godly dps for their lvls complain when they never got nerfed in stats so essentially being the first to get those weapons before the nerf was quite nice.
There are a lot of good things to being first. The good far outweighs the bad.
Also being first lets you do whatever you want before the population catches up, especially in a noninstance game (which i for one like).

You make an interesting obervation ifx, I wonder why that is?
Is it same reason some people of this culture have to obtain things in order to feel signigicant, and when those things are changed to be more equal, people no longer have the sence of surperiority?
You are the only one that replied, yet there are countless replies to a nerf thread. I am seeing a pattern here.

The people who are "rushing to the top" and doing all this content before you are the same people that are beta testing the game for you. You should be at least a little grateful.

Also if them rushing as no affect on you what so ever, as they all in different places. why worry, why they do it? You play your way let others play thiers?
Why is there so much concern what the next person is doing, just do it the way you want to do it, that is what you just paid for? And if they leave, you got what you wanted, all the rushers gone from your oh so beautiful view of how it should be played. So whats the problem?

Its only human to be upset when someone is "better" than you. We are competetive by nature after all. People deal with this very differently, from whining, to sucking it up and work harder on spesific goals.
Edit : Just as an example, I get ganked daily in Ahgram at the teleporters by people 10-20 level (its always spellcasters) higher than me. They have by my view rushed to get higher levels and abuse their power to grief lower level players. Its a silly example I know, but people rushing to the top do affect everyone else.

Being the first has alot of merits too actually.
The first crafter who is able to craft something in high demand gets all the $ and move on, leaving the slower ones to compete each other to death.
The first grp who have completed a certain uber quests are usually rival-free until they share their information to the public.
The first one who gets online after the server restarts gets all the ground spawn for their quests or materials.
Not to mention that the first one who have exploited something walks out with a handful of candies before its being fixed.
etc.

So bascially it really means. I am not first, so no one else should be. I wanted all the glory for me alone and anyone who as gotten to 50 is really either a no lifer or a exploiter. But if it was me, then I did it the hardcoooooore way man, show me the respect.
I think most gamers can see it for what it real is. And is why we laugh so much at them than moan about the rushers.

This makes no sense. By your logic, taking into account the reality that change is a constant thing in MMOs whether its early or late in the games life, why play at all?

Sometime if the people you normally group with are levelling faster, then you are forced to level faster too.... call it peer pressure

Ok. I thought it was obvious but I guess not so let me tell you why people want to be 50:
- Since it is the last level there are more people to play with.
- At 50, your character has better skills and abilities.
- If you like to Raid, the best content is at the max level range.
- You are able to make a lot of money at 50.
- Leveling is the whole idea behind these MMORPG games.
- The Game Development Team puts more content for level 50 than some misc level.
And the #1 reason to get to 50 and have faster XP:
Leveling Sucks!

I'm not so bothered about hitting max level yet as any form of alternate abilities (AA's) aren't currently in the game. For me, in WoW this was a big let down as once you hit max level the only way to further develop your character is through loot acquisition. This in turn breeds some of the most blatant loot whores I've yet to come across in any of the MMOGs I've played. I truly hope Sigil intend to implement an AA system which will allow us to further tailor our characters. Were this already in then I'd feel more inclined to grind the dull levels out the way in order to access the candy that AA's often turn out to be such as holy steeds, slay undead abilities, improved pets, etc.

1. Few people have reached max level in this very new game so argument one does not apply yet in the slightest.
2. This one makes sense.
3. Since we dont know what the raid content will be, you are just assuming.
4. Yup, more money at higher levels.
5. Actually fun is the idea behind MMORPGs.
6. It is aknowledged that the higher end content is not finished yet, so right now the reverse is actually true in VG.
Ok, first you say the idea behind MMORPGs is leveling, and then you say leveling sucks. I would never play a game in which I thought the whole point of the game sucked. Seems obvious but each to their own delusions i suppose.
