Default Damage Parser Creation... need help =\

So anyhow for when I am bored at work I have been working on this =\

It was originally intended only for Bards, but as I'm very close to level 50 I have made several alts now and have started wanting to expand it to other classes. To run it you must have the java runtime installed on your machine but that is not too uncommon.

It will work for most anything a bard does... besides blades of venom or whatever because it procs for ONE damage and I found that to be too depressing to even bother parsing. I have also added support (albeit limited) for dark knights as that is the only other class that has sent me any sort of logs. I don't do too much testing with my alts right now as they're low level and don't even have half of their abilities yet.

Anyhow I can not get much further without some input from other classes except for my alts when I level them up as I wait for content to be added.

Before you say anything... the defensive parsing is crap I know. Also the game doesn't tell you when your target dodges or blocks or you just missed... they all appear as misses.

Also, I have only tested it with a bard and dread knight log and for the DK at least it seemed to work... kind of. I can't really tell when they start new DoTs (razor parts silk has a distinct message when you apply it and therefore can be separated into applications / misses for a proper hit rate) and some skills may not come through at all? I don't know.

So what I am asking for is, uhh try it with a log from your char and tell me how it butchered things and perhaps provide logs / snippets of log so that I can make it work correctly. Many skills have unique messages and may not get parsed properly or at all so if you're going to berate me for that you can kiss my ass.



On with the questions... to any DK what the hell does this mean?

On the 3rd line.... what the hell caused that blindness exploit? Do you have a skill that just doesnt show up in logs? Does it have something to do with the dark energies heal your endurance? Heh does your white hit exploit blindness?... And at the bottom... what is causing the second crit? Dark energies again? What is that crap?

another example:

[14:19:09] You slash Rotblood Templar for <highlight>618</color> damage.
[14:19:11] <BLUE>You exploit the blinded weakness on Rotblood Templar, dealing 409 additional damage.
[14:19:11] Critical hit for an additional 281 points!
[14:19:12] <BLUE>Dark energies heal your endurance.

It makes no sense that the crit and exploit correspond to the melee attack as they would account for more than the total damage of the hit. So... is it once again said dark energy move of retarded loggery or what?

I welcome input from other classes as well... if you havn't already been scared off by my rambling novel.

So this is my last attempt at getting help here probably noone will reply/help and I will keep all further versions to myself or inguild if some of them ever assist me.

Added uhh block detection and some shaman dot parsing.

It looks like this =\ (still works best with bard logs), minor shaman parsing support(mine is lvl 16 heh)... dk logs are a horrible mess and will require a lot of work... and I suspect the guy who sent me this log had some of his combat messages disabled maybe. But the actual dps calculation part should be mostly accurate for dks still... I think heh.


Yeah so my shaman is low level and was changing weapons... my miss/resist rates really were that high.



It will get most skills correctly but a lot of dots and maybe spell nukes it could mess up? Or I'm not sure how nukes with dots at the end will work with it right now such as char. As I don't have a sorc and noone will help me out I can't fix these things very well.

I can't help you with DK logs and such, but overall, that's a very nice looking set-up you have. =)

BLindness is something caused by other classes. You have a particular skill that makes use of that exploit. You were probably grouped with one or more of the following classes who cast the spell in the parenthesis:

Cleric (Hand of Censure), Druid (Solar Flare), Paladin (Holy Strike or Judgement of Envious) or Sorcerer (Shocking Grasp).

They can all cause blindness.

Your skill - Ravaging Darkness - will cause extra damage when one of the above classes uses their spell that blinds first.

There are about 19 different Vulnerablilities that can be exploited for extra damage.

.... I'm not a complete moron... I am asking why there is nothing to indicate in the log what is causing these random crits and weakness exploits. The logs for shamen and bards at least make sense... sort of. Either the DK I got the log from had some of his messages turned off causing abilities to not show up in his logs I guess or they have some kind of wierd abilities that just dont show up. I am leaning towards he had stuff turned off as one of the logs he sent me( the larger of the two) has zero misses... on him or by him. And he had not like you begin casting messages or anything, not sure if they should be there or not, but they are for bards/shamen.

In any event, I was not specifically asking for help on only the DK issues... I would like to make it work for every class... that is the only log I was sent so far. It would appear that this was the wrong place to ask though as I've gotten a grand total of like 10 views and I couldn't change the thread title maybe it was misleading? Anyhow I give up looking for help here have fun with parsethis... it works sooooo well for vanguard.

It almost looks like his melee attack was exploiting blindness...

I'll go with "not everythings turned on in the log" for 500 Alex.
