Sigil. Teleporters are boring and unimmersive, do this instead...
Cmon, some "dockworker" with powers to teleport people across the continent?
That doesnt make sense.
Replace the "dockworkers" with a powerful, magical race (if that takes too much time give them dark hoods and reveal the race later) or society that teleport us for money.
Later, when the Ships starts working, use this for quests.
One could imagine that these creatures/society will feel betrayed when we use the cheaper ships for transportation and disappear into dungeons/whatever being a threat to their surroundings.
Itll be great for both diplomacy and adventure quests?
And since they will have been standing there, we will know their names and therefore the quests will be even more interesting.
IF, the ships will make it into the game very soon its of course totally unnecessery and waste of time and ill have lost 5 mins of my life typing this
I DO think that things like this should be considered when the rumored nontemporary teleporters will be implemented.
Dont just throw them in there, add them through lore so that they make sense in the world and maybe even put some quests around them.
I would love to see some "pre quests" like " Since were building this portal we need to clear this area of enemies and dangerous animals" and maybe even see a half finished portal during that time.
id like to see ferries or boats take people around every cont seems to have rivers or main settlements near shores teleporters unless your going to another plane or a moon orsomething seem cheesy kinda overdone
You still have a 20-30 minute ride once you jump to another continent any way, how long/difficult do you guys actually want to make it before you'd be happy?

Except for maybe what Valor86 said, none of this was even about making transportaion langer. It was about making teleprts make more sense than a dockworker knowing how to teleport you thousands of miles away when a lvl 50 sorc cant even do that.
