In general, that's correct; the amount of points on an item are very inflexible.

On the other hand, I've actually set a lot of internal limits that allow for tweaking down the road. For example, no more than 60% of the item's total points can be spent in a single modifier or the total of the attributes (Yanvil has 60% of it's points in SDF, heh). That cap has been set by myself and has been mirrored in other things like the attribute/stat cap balancing. Now, because that limit, as well as many others, are self-imposed, I can "break" them at any time if I want to make an item that falls outside of normal curve. These deviations from the limits/metrics will happen VERY infrequently, for the sake of the health of adventuring

Many metrics and limits are currently in place that will allow us to evolve and give us breathing room in the future; the results of those limits aren't always visible from the beginning of a project, which is why many things just seem "weak" or "lame" to people. The item change that I've hinted at is actually a pretty big fix that will retain and fix the health of our current sytem; imo, players will enjoy the change as whole, as well More news on that probably next week or the week after.
