Please change the ingame map to COLOR!
Hi,
The current ingame map is boring, its only like 2 colors and I really dont want to have to use a map mod. Besides when attracting new players to the game, once they buy it, they will see the default ingame 2 color map.
Can Sigil please do a color map showing different colors for different heights, and main roads pls.
Surely it cant be too hard considering they have the heightmaps available to them, and it will greatly enhance the look of the game, attracting more players.
Thanks

It used to be color in beta. It actually looked pretty darn good and I still don't know why they didn't just polish that. The entire mapping system in Vanguard could use an overhaul in my mind and they need to hire me to do it.
Regards,

My first reaction was: this is the least of VG's problems. I'm sure the devs have more important fish to fry.
And then I remember looking at the mini-map for the first time. I remember thinking, 'damn, that looks hoky'.
So maybe you have a point. The mini-map should give new peoples a 'wow!' feeling.

There is a lot of controversy about whether or not maps should even be in the game.
Me, I love maps, and would love to see much more detail than we have now. I think it is fine to start with the current map (or even a blank one) as long as details are added automatically as I explore an area.
At the very least we should have map-making tools like in EQ.
Realistically, a person or group that is exploring a new area would make detailed maps (like the Lewis & Clark expedition).
Another option could be to purchase maps - especially city maps. Again, just like the 'real world'.
But, as another poster pointed out, they need to work on more important things first. Detailed maps is a nice 'wish-list' item.

There is a rather nice colour map mod.
I know you said no mods, but this one is apparently very similar to the beta game version.
There should be a link on this forum if you do a search. I would highly recommend it, it's very well done and I would never go back to the colourless one.

<- wants to be able to label maps! Give us the ability to set and label points and be able to toggle them using the existing interface. Its a big world while I like to explore when I find a good place and try to bring my friends back to it...but I just keep overshooting and pretty much circling it for 10 - 20 min its kinda lame!
--do have to say that the idea of a map that would self filll as you explore would have been really cool.

Yep, I found out the beta map was the colorful one, it was a 'satellite' map, and showed mountains and such.
I hear Cobals map pack uses the Sigil beta map.
I wish Sigil would go back to the colorful one as this would give a greatly enhanced impression of the game to new players.
Cheers

I like your comment. Anyway I think the current option whas "Do nothing positive", so we have a bland map. The current option is weak... If only the ability of making comments where added, then may make sense, because will be the player that will populate the map, but that don't exist.

I agree with some of the posters here, the map system needs an overhaul, it really should be a color map, and have much greater detail, it should also allow for us putting pushpins on it to designate areas of interest, it should also automatically put things that we discover on the map for us like mining nodes. And least by not last it should have transparancy values that we can set.
The settings for the map should also have toggles that let us toggle on or off the different markers that get placed automatically (like mining nodes) as well as any pushpins that we place ourselves.
I remember the first time I opened Vanguards map and also thought, "how cheapo is this", the rest of the games graphics are for the most part pretty well done but the map is really kind of cheesy IMO.

I agree there should be a myriad of maps with a variety of details to suit the traveler, such as you would find at any mid-evil map shop,
Then get rid of that GPS "you are here" arrow, and let use explore the land, not follow an arrow across a map !!
