End Game Plans?
I only play on a PvP server... so I can think of some possibilities that exist in VG for the End Game (when everyone is 50 and has their preferred set of armor etc.). What I am having trouble imagining is what Sigil PLANNED for the End Game for all of the other servers.
People say they have no PvP development team... which seems to indicate that they though people would come to VG and just Raid content at level 50? I have a hard time believing that intelligent people would PLAN to spend millions of dollars creating a game that attempted to compete directly with WoW in such a way. If people want to Raid the same Dungeons every day... they have a great game already that allows them to do that.
It seems like City-warfare (through diplomacy/adventuring... SOMETHING) had to be part of their long-term plan.
The crazy thing is... they already have some VERY cool game mechanics in place and working... in fact they are the first game in YEARS to have such possibilities in my mind.
I am referring, of course, to the housing system... which allows players to craft somewhat unique structures in pre-defined locations. Now, given that there is an upkeep that must be paid, I assume that there is also a mechanic for said houses to be removed from the game (destroyed).
It does not seem like a HUGE jump to imagine that Sigil could create a set of plots, perhaps some of different sizes (allowing for different buildings OTHER than just houses)... and then put a "wall" plot around them all. It may not be as good as a city you get to design yourself, but it would still be the start to Player Created cities. Toss in the ability to seige such cities (say... Forced Upkeep) and you are well on your way to an exciting End Game.
I have not read anything about this possibility... but it just seems natural to me that SOMEONE in the Sigil organization had to be thinking along the same lines as they were putting in this code.
