I'd like to see some heavy handed moderation for a while to get things back in line so it can be the welcoming rational site similar to the FoH back in the day. Keep it civilized and full of conversations instead of hate and one-liners and it could be a great site.

Be quick to moderate, warn and ban people where appropriate that bring baseless hate into threads. Some of the stuff being posted right now is incredible and will only prevent this from becoming a community that can be a resource for all who visit it.

*boggle*

I've never frequented FoH, but to my knowledge, what made them 'famous' was how they crapped on each other and everything around them they didn't like while keeping an air of superiority around themselves.

From what I heard, all of the bad things you reference that need to be removed is what made FoH famous.

FoH was kind of extreme of an example I suppose. It is just completely worthless now. Any thread longer than 2 pages quickly becomes 20 because it is the same rehashed arguments over and over. That is the point I was trying to make. It's still good for a few token opinions here and there, the rest is just near-baseless hate for one game or the other.

I've seen people here start threads that are just flame bait, with a few dozen posts to their name. I check their recent posts... and over the last 2 months all they do is flame others and contributing very little to any kind of community, and if anything destroying the one that is here. Those are the kind of people that hopefully the official forums will take from here... and if not, they need to be warned and banned where necessary.

The general areas should be absolutely civil, conversations, not arguments, and modded appropriately to stay that way IMO.

This is a good example of what should not be in General Discussion.

Oops, ended up doubleposting, my bad

This far there's no forum even NEAR SV in content. This site has kept me playing VG for at least 2 months by supplying at least A discussion of what's going on...Keep up the great work!!

Was just wondering, will the dev tracker list posts on the new Vanguard official forums?
Just so we don't have to browse there?

Doubt it.. at least not for awhile. The dev tracker only works with forums built using vBulletin; which the official forums do not use

They've also said the official forums will be unviewable to non game subscribers.. Not sure if this effects that.

Not sure where you heard that, but unless they run it completely different than their other boards, anyone can view, but only subscribers(Game or SP) can post.

It looks good for the affiliate sites. The following was posted on the official site by the admin Brenlo.

We are doing it right. =) With EQII we went too far in the number of forums offered. I believe that we hindered much external site growth by offering everything internally.

It is good to have official forums, very good, but it is also good to allow those external fan sites, dedicated to classes and other groups to grow as well. We plan to do both. Here we will be hosting official Gameplay discussion forums and the newbie and help forums. For other forums, we fully plan to support those that already exist.

Aye, i just think an effort needs to be made to drive out the negativity, or at least channel it into the volcano or whatever.

Can you guys keep the old/ex-devs on devtracker? At least for awhile. I think a lot of the people are still interested in hearing what they have to say for a bit.

I hope things continue to go well for SV. This site I visit everyday. Just a bit of advice for those of you that do not have much corporate experience and this fits SV's situation as well:
Be diversified. If you put all your eggs in one basket it better be because you have no other baskets

Seriously though; I plan to continue frequentling this site. Everyone is spining this whole thing as very bad. Sadly I think it's about the best outcome we could realistically expect. This also gives the "affiliated" sites time to diversify if they hadn't planned on it.

Previously we've talked about expanding to other games. It just kind of didn't go anywhere when it was first brought up, but I started heavily beefing up the "Industry & Other games section" with talk of other PC games, other MOGs, and created several stickied threads for the consoles.

There were some talks about doing that again recently, but I don't know what decisions are being made on that.

To the SV staff:

I am glad SOE is going to use an official site, because of sites like yours. Your website did nothing but hurt the community with your negative attitudes and terrible administration. I am glad to say i never have to visit this site again.

With only 3 posts you weren't really ever here in the first place, now were you?

I think, as is common with human nature, people are quick to dismiss the real root of the problem and look for a scapegoat because the reality makes them uncomfortable. To be frank, if the game wasn't in the awful condition it's in, Silky Venom would be a lot less raucous. Sure, there'd still be malcontents, flamers, trolls etc and there always will be. But there'd be a hell of a lot less if this game was complete. The fact that the LOTRO beta makes clown shoes out of a game that's 5 months post release, should have people appauled.

Luckily SOE is, I think, going to do something with this scrambled mess of disjointed code. But being all Jack Thompson about Silky Venom in the meantime is foolish, and is a smokescreen for the real issue -- the game itself. Blame Silky all you like guys, but they're not the ones removing people from the servers.

I'm glad Silky is here. I hope you guys continue and grow from strength to strength. Maybe now that SOE have said they'll do something with this game, you'll get to do just that. Viva SV!
