Default Vista 32bit Ultimate question

I have a copy of the 32bit version of Vista Ultimate I received at a Microsoft event.

My question is, can I use the same key if I borrow a 64bit install disk to do the install?

I'm on the verge of making the move and if I can go direct to 64bit without having to buy another copy, I think that would put me over the edge.

Thanks in advance!

I thought Vista Ultimate came with both 32bit and 64bit clients?

The retail copy does come with both. The version I have is a free copy given away at a Microsoft event.

Yeah I know, why didn't I ask at the event.

Well, it was back in Feb. and at that time, upgrading was not on my mind.

From what I read, the OEM 32bit version key CAN NOT be used with a 64bit install DVD. Can anyone confirm?

I"m guessing my copy would be similar to the OEM versions on the market.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

To my knowledge you can order a 64-bit DVD and have it shipped to you. I also believe that upgrading via download is free. Though you may only have access to these options via the upgrade thing after you've installed the 32-bit version. Not sure on exactly how you upgrade. I do know that the majority of versions come with just the 32-bit disk and you have to upgrade or have another disk shipped to you to move to 64-bit.

Apparently your not the only one wondering. The best I could find was what rabb1t said, call and order. In fact thats ALL I could find.
