Default Vanguard: Saga Of Heroes. Worth it?

Okay, I play'd this game in the beta for a short period of time. I was on an old computer and I was not able to experience the game the way it should be experienced.

I Need a few things explained to me.

1. Can my computer handle the game at a decent pace. Not an Expert unsure what half this stuff means on this paper :P)

My Specs are:
Processor Type: Intel Core 2 Duo 6420
Processor Speed: 2.13 GHz
RAM: 2GB DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive: 640GB SATA (7200RPM)
Optical Drives: DL 16X DVD+/-RW With lightscribe
Cache: 4MB L2

Graphics Card Specs: ( Again Not a clue)

API Support: DirectX 10
Card Type: 3D VGA
Clock Speed of video memory: 1600Mhz
Interface: PCI Express
Maximum 2D resoltuion (At 32-bit colour): 2048 x 1536
Maximum 3D Resolution ( At 32-bit Colour): 2048x1536
Processor Type: NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GTS

Alrighty if someone can decypher and tell me if my computer can run this please.

Next thing I was wondering if the game is worth it. Personally I play World of Warcraft. But I am becoming bored.

Last: I have read posts about this merging servers thing and apparently people are supposed to wait until they do this. Can someone explain what it is and when it will be done.

Thank you in Advance.

You should be able to play just fine with that computer. And my personal opinion is that, yes - Vanguard is worth it.

Is it worth is?

What type of player are you?

If you are hardcore in anyway I must beg you to STAY AWAY.. GAME HAS NO ENDGAME CONTENT WHATSOEVER.

GAME IS NOT FUN OTHER THAN THE GRIND UP TO 50... (which was actually quite fun grinding with my friends 7hrs a day 7days a week to 50... and then... SLAP IN THE FACE BY A INCOMPLETE GAME..)

I would recommend you stay with WoW until either Warhammer or AoC....

But then again - if you're not "hardcore" and like to do interesting quests instead of just grinding until you quit out of boredom - then you have a very nice game in Vanguard.

Not enough info to know if you will like it or not, but be aware that regardless of your PC spec the game can still have problems with crashing, slow framerates, and other bugs.

In terms of tech, your PC should be able to run the game just fine. Will the Sigil code actually work ok is another question altogether. Some have no problems; others are still crashing as often as every hour from what I've heard.

My personal opinion on the game - not worth it. It just seems to lack content, primarily because the content is spread across 3 continents, there is a very persistent empty feel (even when I left months ago), and there really seems less and less to do as you level up. In terms of Vanguard, I'd recommend waiting a few months and seeing what SOE does with it.

Now, if you are looking for something new to play, you may want to give LoTRO a look, or wait for another upcoming game, such as Tabula Rasa, Gods & Heroes, Age of Conan, or Warhammer.

HAHA interseting Quests u must be on crack, more like if u like quest that go ok go kill 10 beetles 12 boars and a freaking partridge in a pear tree then come back here for your reward of 2 copper pieces and this crappy neck piece then collect 47 thousand more stones to upgrade it to a half assed version of what it was before hand. and that is what vanguard is about only time consuming part is logging back in after your ctd's every 15 mins no matter how badass your computer is.

that is the truth about vg quests plain and simple.

There are a few, FEW, nice quests such as that line in renton keep.., but the plain "fun" quests are too few and far between....

Anyway, the game was pretty and the dungeons are amazing... but that is all it has going for it..

Oh and the music is A+++, especially in the mansion place... Hilsbury

You would be better off waiting on something else to play.

Grind Grind Grind

Most of the quests fedex and kill tasks. Makes you feel great when you go killing 50 cultists that are 3dot's, to turn it in and the guy try's to give you the same quest again.. Come on a 4 year old can write better shit than this...

Trust me stay away...I have given this game and given...And its not getting anymore, its a 50$ paper weight. SOE might as well scrapp it because whats coming out is sure to be better than this.

Do yourself a favor head over to the Conan site and check out one video and you wouln't think about Vanguard anymore.

I agree and I enjoy playing the game. but starting right now is pointless. the game is dead.

I still enjoy it but I can see its borked and will never be the game it should be.

Well, I don't remember doing crack lately but I do enjoy the game hehe. And yeah, I've found quite a few really fun quests to do.

I don't find the game a grind at all. WoW is a farming, grinding waste of time experience but this has some nice quests and is beautifully designed.

The game isn't quite finished but will be soon and is quite stable right now.

Improvements are coming and end game content will be added by the time you reach 50 so why not join in???

The community is also very good, I've only come across one person who should have stayed playing WoW.

Your system will run the game fine. I have similar specs and the game is smooth and stable for me.

It's an awesome game and one I highly recommend above all others that are in release right now. Next year there will be new games though but for the next 12 months this game is the one.

I am on the fence as to recommend. Yes I still play although lately about 2 hours a week but still paying all the same. But I cant honestly say I would recommend to a friend so I would say no. Lots of reasons that have been hashed on over and over and over. Mostly just the fact that finding groups and people to play with although possible, right now is the biggest time sink in the game.

To the OP:

Statistics show that 1/10 people enjoy Vanguard enough to pay for it. Or rather, 1/10 people who payed for the box kept their subscription.

If you've got money to burn, who knows, you might be in that 10%

My guess is that of that 10% probably 8-9% merely kept the subscription going because they are lazy and have money. I have 2 accounts and havent logged in to play for quite some time.

I know both of my 3-month packages came up for renewal, and i failed to catch them in time There's $80 down the tubes.

Gonna call and see if I can get some of it back but I highly doubt it.

here is a review from PC mag.
------------------------------------------------------------------
You can play as a character from one of three races--orcs, elves, or humans--and play as such professions as hunter or sorcerer. No matter what choice you make, you'll always end up wandering off into the world to find monsters, pounding on them until they die or your character dies. And you keep doing this until you gain an experience level. Then, you go back and do the same thing again, eventually against stronger enemies, but hopefully you're high enough in level to purchase a slightly bigger stick to beat enemies with. If you were making sweeping generalizations, you could arguably make this kind of criticism about most massively multiplayer games to date, but in ArchLord, this boring hack-and-slash combat really is the focus of the game, and it's so bad, you'll notice. Your character's individual power doesn't scale well against monsters, so you'll need to either sit and rest or run back to town for more healing and magic potions more frequently over time, unless you "farm" lower-level monsters that pose little challenge. Considering how many recent games have introduced much more lenient combat systems with minimal downtime, the grind seems outdated as well as tiresome.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

granted, this is a review for the game "ArchLord", a free online mmorpg, but while reading it, i couldnt help but notice it fits Vanguard, EQ1, and EQ2 to a tee. infact, it fits just about all of them to a tee.

the only differance is, the others have a better PR team and better advertising, and enough money to buy a rating from differant web sites and mags. yes, ratings are for sale.

infact, it fits all of them to a tee, with the main differance being the amount of downtime built into the differant games ranging from the worst, EQ1, to the least, WoW. and i guarentee you this is exactly why new games start with a bang, and quickly die off within a few months of launch.

people are board to tears with grinding levels.

been there, done that, show us something NEW.

but go ahead and fix Vanguard. fix all the problems interfearing with the level grind so we can get to it. that must be why we left, right? rofl. clueless.

I think it's really fun if you like to box or play alts in lowbie areas. I also entertained myself by grinding up harvesting and farming rares. Now I'm waiting on the merges to be able to play with others without having to wait so long.

Group forming without an active guild is currently the biggest grind in the game. In a beta guild of 50 progressive players, all quit except me and some guy that logged on 12 days ago. It's a pretty high percentage of quitters. All did say that they try back in the fall so who knows.
