Default Can't wait to login....

....I know it seems like I'm posting here alot, but I've found myself a new MMO and I can hardly wait to get home and get to it.

Vanguard has been a very pleasant surprise over the past week or two. I've given it a new go and I can't believe how cool this game has turned out. At launch, I couldn't stay on long enough to admire it, but now, with the CTD's all but non-existent, I find something new and exciting every five minutes.

For example, I was playing my ranger last night and some good soul helped me go though the whole forage/fletching thing and I had a blast running around for two hours foraging materials (and grubs...blechh!) for some awesome arrows. After I filled my quiver (lowly four slot that it is) I gave a bunch away.

Also, I think there must have been some lore improvements becuase I read every quest given to me and it's all interesting...especially the stuff about the Martok invaders down on the beaches in Kojan.

Also...I found out last night that theres a level 15 or so 5 dot dude floating around that doesn't take too kindly to a well placed (although errant) hand made arrow. I honestly think he one-shot me.

Anywho....I'm really enjoying VG now...and I used to be such a dick about it. So to all those who preached about VG's potential....

You were right.

Vanguard was always ok for a couple weeks maybe even a month. You could possibly even stretch it out if you become interested in getting a house or a boat but really those small little fluff things cant hold you forever and then what do you have left? A lame xp treadmill of questing and gaining gear so that you can level so you can do new quests and get better gear so you can level, and so on forever.

I don't know... Maybe MMOs aren't the games for you seeing as that about sums up every MMO on earth already released and in the works for the most part

I third that notion lol. You need to pick up a new game then. You are NEVER going to be happy with MMO's with that mentality. Sorry to say. Maybe try FPS or something. I certainly vouch for the guys that posted that said that is exactly every MMO there is. Unless you PvP, if you like to PvP there is a server set aside for it. Or go play Mortal Kombat or something.

Adaman, I highly recommend harvesting. There are some good places to harvest as you go along in levels. I am not sure where you started but it has helped me build up enough money to get whatever I need. I enjoy it a lot. I can sit and harvest for hours. The anticipation of a UR is what drives me. Call me crazy but I love it. I would rather harvest then exp honestly lol. At least if you do this you can by a house and a Caravel and enjoy things more. What server do you play on? I am a minerologist and I can make you some bricks for your house if you play on Xeth server.

Crafting is another hobby I enjoy a lot on VG. I could craft and craft for hours. I used to adventure a few levels and then craft a few levels. Keep it pretty much even. I am 47 in adventuring and 44 in crafting so they are kind of even now. It is nice when you can make things you can use. Like the repair stones. I made so many of those and gave them to guildies...they love em.

Anyways, I am glad you gave VG another chance. It truely is coming around despite what people say. It just needs more people like you to give it the chance it needs to grow. Unfortunately there is so many people who are just to stubborn to realize sometimes things need a second chance.

I agree. The only real problem that VG has right now is its reputation as a ‘failed’ MMO. Just last night I was invited to a guild that met all my specifics; they are on PST, they are a mature bunch of folks, and they are casual. However, the moment I joined they informed me that they will be moving ‘en-masse’ to Warhammer when it releases.

I’ve done the PvP thing to death and I was really hoping to get in with a bunch of folks looking to progress in all three spheres and eventually get to the current and eventual raid content. Going to Warhammer or AoC just doesn’t appeal to me right now.

The populations seem to be good and over the past two weeks it feels like it’s growing, I hope it continues so I can find a guild who want to enjoy the game more than those who are just biding their time until Warhammer, AoC, etc comes along.

Just give it time adaman. People are always talking about how much greener the grass is on the other side until they actually jump the fence and see for themselves. VG was a big let down to a lot of people. That doesn't mean in its current state it is a bad game, but once people see Warhammer will be no different from WoW they will start to re-think their mmo priorities. A lot of people are done playing wow they want something new, Warhammer is not new to WoW, it is basically an expansion by the looks of the game. Models all look very similar the environment is much in the same. Heavily PvP and RvR based.

I am not saying everyone is going to come back to VG lol don't get me wrong, but I don't think WH or AoC has what it takes to last either. Only time will tell. AoC has a huge following right now and I myself would rather not play it but if a bunch of people left VG for it we all wouldn't have much of a choice.

There is a ton of people who are in lingo right now bouncing back and forth from game to game month after month. Only time will tell which game will win out but I am here to tell you why WoW was so succesful, It was successful because other then raid content it was easy. Anyone could play it. Therfor everyone played it because that is what everyone else was playing. You get tired playing DAoC or EQ or EQ2 what is your first thing to do? Look up your buddies and see what they are playing. If they are playing WoW wouldn't you go play with them just to be hanging out with the people you have known for a long time?

I haven't honestly done a lot of research on AoC, but I have looked at WH as that is what all my old EQ buddies are looking into once it releases. I really don't like the thought of playing it. But if all my friends left VG and EQ for it I might not have much of an option. The problem is there is so many people with so many variations of what they think an mmo should be. I think the MMO community will get very split up soon and a lot of people will be going different ways.

I hope you find a guild that fits you. I have found a good one on Xeth server and enjoy the folks I play with. It sure makes it a lot of fun when your in a guild full of people accomplishing the same goals you yourself is working towards.
