This is a thread to collect thoughts and observations we see on LiveGamer for vanguard. People have asked how this will impact and how we can monitor people who use the service, so let's see what we can determine from looking at the livegamer auctions.

There are currently no bids (for anything) and I have seen things expire rather than sell. One character has been relisted at a lower price. It seems strange that LiveGamer allows them to do multiple listings for the same item.

On Xeth, one platinum piece has gone from $45 bid ($50 instant) to $6.25 bid ($12 instant), with no bidders. On Seradon, plat is at $19.95 bid ($19.95 instant); there is even 10 gold for sale.

There are no gold sales or character sales for Halgar, but there are a few item sales.

The characters for sale are named Kalaro and Aelnir on Seradon. It appears that we can determine three people who are selling crafted items: Fate (Sartok in Hand of Fate), Mombasa (Xeth in guild Final Resolve) and Skaara (Seradon).

lol Skaara?? Really? I know him well, that bastard lol... I do know he has been out of work for months and is getting a little desperate, this may be the culmination of that (he may have figured "wtf, may as well") because he's a little cynical about the game these days... I'll ask him when I'm on tonight and give him guff for participating regardless of his reasons heh

The funny/sad thing is that all sales below $10 have a charge of $1.25, so if he sells his arrows for $1.25 he will make nothing.

The duplicate character for sale is gone. I don't know if it was purchased at the lower price or the duplicate was removed.

I honestly don't think you would be allowed to list something twice. Most likely it was removed or was a glitch in the system. If the character was indeed sold you would think both of them would be removed as the seller would no longer have that character to list.

Anyway I hope this thing is a miserable failure for SOE as that is the only way they will ever be able to "see the light".

The program should not allow you to do it, but it did. It is beta, you know.

Now the other copy of that character is off livegamer, suggesting that the first one may have been sold and when the character left the database (a little while later) it left the broker. All speculation, of course.

Let him know there are other games free to play that have RMT...he would make more cash doing this on one where he has no over head (sub fees), or less.

Still no bids showing, but the items for sale have changed a little. There are now 39 goods while yesterday there were 38. I know at least one thing expired, so at least two were added. One item added was a ammo case made by Alliard of Pain from Xeth.

I wonder if this is typical for this type of service...such a slow start. Or if more people use a custom UI then I ever knew and just aren't seeing it. Either way, I am enjoying the lil anxiety attack Smed must be having because of the lost subs and lil activity on LG.

I bet this is why they brought it to open beta so soon...couldn't get anyone into closed...lol. Still surprised they haven't officially announced in MOTD that its available to use (outside the 'come test for us' message).

EDIT: to add,

It doesn't make sense (with exception to someone not paying attention) that someone would list anything for $1.25 as that will be the fee and they will get nothing. So is this SOE posting as a test? Or posting to make money? which would be in direct conflict under their own rules (no surprise here). But I guess as long as the LG is listed as in beta, they can get away with it?

I have not used the service, but noticing the box in the game does not lead to people using it. They have to leave the game to start a LG account, and then can post things in the game and then go out to post on livegamer.

I think most of all people still don't know about it. Just a button in game (may miss that), a single MOTD once, a hidden thread and small announcements on the forum... just not a lot of awareness for a new "feature".

I think that will all change once the "testing" phase is over. Once its live they will make sure everyone in the game knows about it.

The last character is gone. It was a monk on Seradon. Did it sell? It was not auctioned so someone may have payed full ($100 I think).

There are bids for plat on Xeth, for 1 pp at $6.25 and 2 pp for $12.

There are still no bids for items. Since the auctions go on for days, I wonder if people just won't bid. In a game like Vanguard, if you want something, you don't want to wait for days to get it. I think buynow purchases will be the majority.

I was going to sell Romans for $500. 50/50 Adv and Craft with raid gear and nice harvest junk.

I have no desire to play this version of VG, but I'm happy to contribute to its death. I owe Silius that much for sure. Some gold farmer type can by my Romans, transfer to a pve server and then clog things up as they camp the content for cash and deny game content to the rest of the RMT sympathizers - Because even if you don't use RMT, but continue to play with it in game....you're a sympathizer.

Another character for sale. Kaahn, lvl 36 warrior in the guild order of the badger on the Xeth server, for $15 auction, $20 buy now. It appears that he hangs around with Thoreena a lot so it may be a secondary account.

Items are down to 35, with no bids on anything.

On Xeth, people are bidding on the cheap plat (about $6-7). One action has two bids that raised the price from $6.25 to $6.75. I cannot look at who bid because I have not created an account on Livegamer. Maybe someone who has an account there can click on the "bids" to see names.

You know guys , maybe just maybe, we could all act like adults here & give "real" answers. If you don't like something , do like all our mothers taught us long long ago, "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all". This is not a post for or against Live Gamer, it's simply someone new looking to try out VG. If you guys are gonna welcome new players, Live Gamer or not, this way on the forums, then well , enjoy playing by yourself.



I am beta testing Live Gamer, & the first day it went live, two level 50 toons were added, a 50 monk & 50 paly, within 3 days, they were both sold at their buyout prices of $100.00. Now if you ask me, this was super cheap, but then again, they both just had ok egar, so maybe that is the reason for such a low buy now price. Either or , shortly after that (or maybe even a day before that) a bug came up & now NO one can add toons to LG. I've contacted SoE & Live Gamer support & they both are aware of this isssue, & being it's open beta, they are still working out all the bugs like this.



Try to be nice to new players , Live Gamer or not , cause in the end , Live Gamer might actually give you someone to group with , rather than playing with yourself ....

That post is only half-truths, but I think Gammik is being sincere.

Those two characters were available in closed beta, but no one bought them. They did not go in on the first day of open beta (Livegamer is not "live" yet). The paladin was marked down to $40 buy now ( it was the duplicate character sale at the beginning of this thread). Maybe someone bought it at $40, or maybe it was deleted because it was a duplicate. Either way I doubt anyone bought that paladin; someone may have bought the monk. Hey, log in and see if you see those characters active (names in the first page of this thread).

Gammik has no idea if they were sold or withdrawn or taken down due to bugs. No idea.

The bug seems to be related to the fact that characters can be posted multiple times.

I notice that thread was closed by Dreadfang (who else). Evidently, trolling is people saying they don't like the service. Remember the discussions about the riftways? I don't remember trolling ever being used when people said they did not like some feature.

True that. I remember being hated because I was trying to get you all to quit insulting and bashing each other and no MOD bothered with those threads. Funny, everyone did start speaking more respectful to each other right after they started cracking down a bit, which I mistakenly thought was temporary to change the over all way people posted. I thought it really got people to step up and converse in a way that was much more like discussions rather then arguing. I thought everyone was doing a fabulous job and was even enjoying people I had previously ignored (cept Beau...dude lost some marbles somewhere I think when Luper didn't wanna 'pod' with him anymore he got a little bitter maybe?).

I find it a tad strange as it seems when ever VG and VG community grow for the better SOE just has a way of distroying it.
