Seriously tho, while VG has many good things about it......In business terms it is a failed game on Stationpass support. I am truly happy for all those who can see past everything and still have fun. Just be honest and admit that altho it may last another year or two, eventually VG is gonna hit the Zapper.
Enjoy it while it lasts but fer gods sake at least admit that VG is slowly dying. And while you enjoy the twilight of VG, pray to all the gods that SOE never decides to try VG2

Exactly!
I'm happy that 2 people get fun out of Vanguard (Joodah / Tali. In fact can someone run an IP check and make sure they are not the same person?) but the game is not thriving in any sense of the word. Accept that its subscription base has been declining heavily and take into account that its likely not going to last until 2011.

You can't die if you never really lived. Vanguard died about two years before release when they gave up on the game and started compromising and listening to people who wanted a different game. In fact, not much of what was supposed to be Vanguard was ever really created at all, because of poor management, tools, etc.
Whatever it is that people are playing now is just a cobbled-together mess of compromise and conflicting concepts that is kept alive by the revenue from other games. Only the name is left to eventually pass into obscurity as a lesson in how NOT to make an MMO and run a company.

But think of what could of been..sigh... some info quoted from a former sigil dev recenty:
"I don't know much about it, as even by the time I started at Sigil, I believe they knew the world was too large. There was a huge world roughly mapped out - I remember seeing the full map (done in Campaign Cartographer, I believe), and it was really impressive. Kojan was originally a full continent, and instead of being located between Thestra and Qalia, it was far east of both of them, just slightly south of Thestra, forming a triangle. In the middle was a giant continent (much larger than those three, combined) that was intended for higher level characters (level 50 - 100?). I think Lothenland was to the north, perhaps, but I really don't remember.
I'm really not the best one to be asking about things like this. Someone like Tagad would know quite a bit more."
and..
"A bunch of it has to do with the content. Some of it was just discussions, and never fully planned out, or official. One that comes to mind:
There was a large (multi-region) island (of undead) SE of Thestra. Ruins / valley / pit in the center led to a neat looking dungeon. Three towers on various high points around the island. One idea was that you'd have to clear each of the towers (raid sized force) and keep them clear (group sized force) in order to enable access to the (raid) dungeon. Clever spawning based on what the raid accomplished in the dungeon would provide the guard / respawn groups with a fair chance at interesting loot as well.
Another concept I liked was heavy use of required flags as an item restriction. Many items would not be bind on equip or on pickup, but instead required you to have a certain flag (often having killed the NPC that drops it) as a requirement. There's a bunch of potentially interesting things that would happen to the economy in a situation like that. Items from a boss only your guild has killed are only usable by your guild, unless your guild brings along other people to get them flagged. Or the other side, where a frequently killed boss just won't drop an item for you, you can buy that item from the AH, without it just being available to anyone."
and...
"My favorite unused/unrelased mechanic was part of the berserker - the ability to turn an incoming heal into a reaction he can activate at any time, in order to keep his health low (which granted higher DPS)."
Such a shame VG failed to deliver. Oh well, there is always eq on macintosh untill some other company has the stones to produce a real "old school" game.

It would be cool if they released what design docs for Vanguard so that we could take a look. Hearing what could have been is interesting and depressing all at the same time.

A lot of the general interest in Vanguard was based on developer comments like those and a lot of the information posted on the FAQ. I know one feature I read about and was really excited for was the dynamic spawning of mobs. They had a nifty acronym for it like AES or something. They described it as monsters spawning based on your group and your travels. There were examples of how it would work like having monsters spawn along a path to try and ambush your party as you traveled. It sounds great but of course was never implemented.
There were many of us who were able to play and persist through the performance and bugs but in the end were disappointed that all of the cool features hyped up pre-release were never actually in the game. I also remember quite a fit being thrown those first couple months after it was discovered that there actually weren't any flying mounts in the game (aside from a one-use item dropped by a boss).

The AES was such a nice idea to have both shared dungeons and little drama over spawns. It would be kind of interesting to know why they failed to implement it, if there was any particular reason besides the 'usual' ones when it comes to VG.

I'd love to see the design documents and to be honest it would be awesome for them to release 'em!

That's the point. Who cares how high it is on the mmo chart or if millions aren't playing if some people are having fun? People still play HORIZONS ffs. Some of the people here are simply butthurt the game didn't stay with the "Vision" or wasn't what they demanded that it be, and it's been a 2 year tantrum over it. Yeh, duh, it's not the sub numbers people want, they are probably declining....and I could really care less. It's a video game. It's not a forever thing. /shrug
It's cute that you think just me and Talithia play though. That's going to suck this weekend when we raid and it's just us two.

I'm guessing the people that were fired in the parking lot of Sigil care. But that's just a guess.

Why is my post snarky ?
But no I agree, Joodah please respond to the good posts! stop feeding my humor. You're like a starving wolf that I've just flashed uncooked meat at. Any signs of "joodness" in my posts and you feel the urge to quote. That time it was the word "thriving" I believe

The conversations surrounding this game have become such a snore fest I can barely keep my eyes open. I can imagine in 2, 5, 10 years when gaming has moved into holograph gaming and the MMO's of today are just ghost towns, when SOE shuts down all the old titles you all will still be here and shouting with self righteous indignation saying "SEE I TOLD YOU THE GAME IS DEAD AND THEY WERE GONNA PULL THE PLUG!"
All things in life change, that is life. And this genre will too, it already has. Eventually you all will be right. Maybe for different reasons, but right none the less. It's laughable that you all hang on hoping to be the first one to say, you said it first...lol
Meanwhile I am truly bored with all conversations VG in nature. It's all been said, all been argued. There isn't one of you that can bring anything new and interesting to the conversation, myself included.
Have fun beating the same ole same ole tired long ago dead horse.

It is not possible to discuss anything VG anymore because latest on page 2 the usual suspects start to shit in the thread to derail it. Which is mostly a moderation issue, but then this ain't worth moderating I guess :P

I thought looking at the design docs would be interesting but I guess since Talithia thinks everything sucks I should go back to burning ants with a magnifying glass.

Then why do you log into the forums? Don't complain to us when you can avoid the boredom by just not logging into any of the forums about Vanguard.
