Default Fozzik I need help!

I can only tell you that I am now at the end of my rope when it comes to understanding what is going on with my system.

I recently installed windows 7 64 bit, bought 2 gigs of ram ( bumping me up to 4 gig) and got a new vid card.

I started crashing rather often. I downloaded memtest etc and it showed some errors on the ram. I removed the new stuff and all seemed well. So i rma'd it and order a 4 gig kit. I get it and sure enough more crashes.. I run the mem test and yup.. more errors.. so i remove my original ram and move the new 4 gig sticks into the original slots... all is well.. till now.. a week later.. mem issues again. I move the sticks around and it seems fine for a day or two then its back.. now I am back to my original 2 gigs of ram and FOR NOW it is working but what is going on here?

The 4 gig sticks passed 25 passes of the windows mem diag with no issues then it all goes to hell.. i am so confused.

ahh not sure if this matters but... when the mem fails a test it fails it madly! Like 50-70 errors in mere seconds then when i reconfigure it its fine again.

My main questions are these.

Could it be my OS? could a corrupt OS show up as mem errors when the memory is actually ok?

Could it be my Motherboard. and same question as above on this.

( ps i have always thought this mobo was a pos but I dont know enough to know if it could be the culprit here)

thank you in advance for your time

Just a thought. Have you tried a different power supply? Perhaps yours is failing or underpowered for the job. This can cause all sorts of odd errors. Also check for anything overheating, blocked heatsinks and fans.

thanks, I just replaced the psu ( which was yet another issue) and that side is working fine, though I am unsure if maybe my bios needs its ram voltage tweaked to support the extra ram.
