Default So I finally bought a laptop.

Having little experience in anything PC and portable (Actually my EEE 1201N was the closest thing I'd bought to a laptop) I found myself at a slight rut. Being as I've never had to travel far I've often found it pointless to own a laptop that weighs more than a paper bag (Netbook, in this case)

Well I got myself a girlfriend and now live up in Scotland. I couldn't be bothered to pay the price to ship my desktop up this way, as I'll return to London next January.

That aside, I needed a laptop. I looked at various sites and Cyberpower stood out. I then came across a decent Medion set up which apparently has a crap screen and a poor touch pad, but quite high specs for a 15" lappy.

My WORD I love this thing!

For 600 pounds I got myself:

Intel Core i7-2630Qm (Made sure it was a quaddy second gen)
GT 555m (1.5gb, overclocks like a beast!)
Four GB of memory
Bluray player
1080p monitor (Gaming at native res can be a problem, but it's fine to downsize on as it's a smaller screen, less of a stretch effect!)
Build quality is absolutely stunning!

Update: USB 3.0 is always a bonus, too.

I an actually taken aback by how simply stunning this laptop really is. The screen has no dead pixels, the colours look decent, far better than my 1201N! The speakers aren't tinny in the least, even at the highest volume, and the keyboard is comfortable to type with.

For 780 pounds I saw an i5 with a GTX480m on offer, that would have been more powerful from a gaming perspective, but it was an 18", and had no bluray drive, and only two GB of ram.

Medion have impressed me, and their customer service was a joy. I phoned to question where the laptop was and they refunded me my shipping costs as their tracking link was broken.

8/10.

Absolutely Fozz,

Medion are rather popular around Europe, I was comparing specs as I wished for a laptop that would run Oblivion on Ultra High at 1080p (Which this does, and brilliantly thanks to the wonderful overclockability of the GT555m)

They seem to have gotten rid of the model from their website now, I did figure this as I got a free upgrade on the CPU, thought they were clearing out old stock.

The screen is actually very good, and it's touchpad isn't anywhere near as sucky as reviewers make out. Honestly, I'm dead impressed with it.

Thumbs up Medion.
