Yeah, I like it! It not only looks fancy but it's also another step towards being more of a general MMO forum and not just a Vanguard forum. I'm glad you added Guild Wars 2 as the third game too, because that's one of the only upcoming MMO's I am interested in. That and ArcheArge, and beyond that, the one from 38 Studios.

I thought Kingdoms of Amalur was the 38 studios MMO until recently realizing it's their single player action RPG prelude. It'll be interesting to see how that turns out.

One problem with the new forum setup, it's rather difficult to tell when there is a new thread/post. The little tiny square by the sub-forum turns a light beige color. I liked the bright green arrows.

I'm fooling with stuff... thinking about freshening the place and maybe moving on from Vanguard at long last.

I'll be honest, I don't have the skills or knowledge to really be the admin...I can work within the control panel and make tweaks, but that's about it. Well, actually I can probably figure out how to do just about anything...but it will be a learning process and I don't own the site.

I also don't have any control over the domain, or hosting. I'm really not even sure who is...I guess it's probably still Oloh, but he's never really been "hands-on" and I've never really been close to him or in the loop.

So I said all that to say this...I'll do what I can. I helped found this site, I helped design the graphics originally, and I put a monstrous amount of time into it. I hate to see it just go away. I think it might be fun to get things going a little again, and maybe see more of you old folks that I had so much fun with back in the day.

I'm following GW2 closely, but I'm also keeping an eye on 38 studios and waiting for them to release info on their MMORPG. The current guess is that they may release the first info after their single-player RPG launches in the next few months. Kingdoms of Amalur is their new universe and 10,000 years of lore that R.A.Salvatore has written for them...all of their games are going to use the same IP. The single-player game is called Reckoning, the MMORPG is code-named Copernicus.

Let me know what I can do, if anything. Ash, there's the "new posts" link at the top of the page...but I'll see if I can make the indication a little more clear on the main forum list.

If anyone who ever checks this forum knows how to get in touch with the site owner / hosting... please let me know.

I was thinking about just removing the ad banner from the top of the site, to see if it brought anyone out of the woodwork...but I don't want to annoy anyone quite that much right off the bat.

New buttons! Are they too bright?

New background image! Is the tiling bothering you? EDIT: Fixed-width website! Do you hate it?

Tell me what you think.

It looks good, except for some web mechanics. Many times the button icons don't show up and the width is still longer than my window.

Still working on it. I mellowed out the color of the buttons, changed the font...

I figured everyone was using 1280 or higher by now. I'll switch it back to variable width. I'm still trying to work out the best way to scale the background picture.

Same. I was expecting it kinda soon and then I looked it up recently and realised it's just a single player :/ But hopefully their MMO is making progress too in the meantime.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the single-player RPG that's actually being made by the Baltimore studio (formerly Big Huge Games). They had already been working on it for a couple years when 38 studios bought them and adapted the game to their "Kingdoms of Amalur" IP.

Kingdoms of Amalur: xxxxx (copernicus) will be the MMORPG, which has been in development for more than 5 years by the central studio in Rhode Island...used to be Green Monster Games but they changed the name to 38 Studios.

I'm getting a lot of broken images now. There's one in front of the title of my thread (I mouse over it and it says something about going to the first new post) . Also, at the bottom of the page are broken images next to all the Thread Tools.

Which thread tools? I don't see those.

I'm working on the "go to unread posts" and some of the other icons. I still get text links for everything that's missing...you don't get those?

This is happening because I don't have FTP access at the moment. I'm actually setting up new icons in a directory I have access to, and I have no way of knowing a complete list of the needed icons unless I notice them missing.

I should probably just quit screwing around for the moment. Have no fear, I can always put things back the way they were.

What browser is everyone using?

The background image looks decent for our color scheme, but the banners and forum sections block a majority of it. It's hard to even tell what it is, but I'm guessing some castle on a cliff?

It's a concept art painting for Guild Wars 2 - A city on cliffs over the water. Their artists are unbelievable.

Latest news... I've talked to Oloh and he doesn't have FTP access either.

He's working on getting in touch with uberguilds, they haven't been responding to emails. I'm also trying to contact Nola on the off chance that he still has his FTP info and could get me back in.
