Default Big Vanguard annoucement today

We will be posting a rather large announcement later today. It may not cover all of the development plans you want to know about, but you may want to keep an eye out for it.

What do you think? F2P?

Why give an announcement that you're going to give an announcement later in the same day?

And this is why you don't give announcements for an announcement; It's already postponed.

LOL, SOE can mess up something as simple as an announcement.

I'm pretty sure Sony doesn't consider Vanguard as part of Sony; hence the ribald treatment of said title.

It is, however, amusing to watch from an academic perspective

The announcement seems to be about a roadmap for upcoming changes (the ones they announced back in July):

Once it is settled the Developers have agreed to be on a podcast to talk about it.

I will be posting my response later today. It may not contain anything you would want to read but you might want to keep an eye out for it. Or you might not.

So the announcement ends up being an announcement for a postponed announcement that is likely the announcement of a road map that will be discussed on a podcast yet to be announced.

I'm really glad I permanently stopped giving SOE my money a few years ago...but it still makes me sad to see how Vanguard is and has been treated.

The game deserved much better. /rude SOE

Hmmm live gamer is being removed from Vanguard now... I still think they are leading up to a F2P annoucement.

I think I'll dream for a minute...

Maybe they are selling Vanguard off to a startup that's going to devote full-time development on the game, returning it to the original design intent and vision.

Ah...that was fun while it lasted.

Ha! Quite. Live Gamer gets removed 13th December, and it coincides with the removal from EQ2 as it's free to play and pay to play servers merge.

Loam can play again now

Edit: Oh dear.. it's looking like they are trying to pass that announcement off as the promised content announcement. SOE never change.

This was their BIG announcement?

Oh, I guess it is. All that talk of "roadmap" was just typical SOE meaningless hype.

Hey, so I could play again, at least in about a month. Maybe for my Christmas break I might pop in and start a new disciple. It would be worth it just to show SOE that at least one person would return when they dropped the stupidity that was LG.

Actually, looking back over the threads, the "community professionals" at SOE made the mistake of posting about an unrelated announcement in a thread about a new content roadmap. By making a post saying "hey we will have some interesting information coming up" is a thread asking for a roadmap, they implied a link that they did not intend. That's what you get when you hire ignorant interns to act as community relations.

Yeah, you're right. Although this "We will be posting a rather large announcement later today. It may not cover all of the development plans you want to know about, but you may want to keep an eye out for it." was very misleading as the post didn't include ANY development plans in a form relevant to the thread.

But good for us. I am warming up to the idea of getting back into VG over the holidays. And I can flame SOE on the VG forum as a bonus!

I am not aware of how involved Live Gamer is with your game play or how many players actually use it. When our company ceases involvement with another company it is pretty big news for us. There are a lot of steps that we have to follow and deal with.

Development is aware of your passion for this game and we do encourage you to be passionate. Unfortunately we do not have development plans that we can share with you at this time. Once those are available they will be posted.
I feel sorry for Naylie, not because she is trapped as a spokeperson for SOE, but because she is in far over her head. This secon post probably says more than she intended:

So what ever developer time they have on the game, it was taken off content to work some other "curveballs"? If that means fixing DCUO, then they should probably say it rather than implying that they have to address non-content stuff on VG.

While this has been going on Gidoo, Silius and the team have been working on Vanguard. Unfortunately the planning for Vanguard has been more complex then initially expected.

We are sorry that we haven’t been able to tell you more of what is going on. As of today the plan is to have some sort of development planning news officially posted within the next month. As soon as that is available to be posted, it will be posted.
What I don't understand is to work on a project of this type, the first step is development planning. What are they working on if they have not all ready build a plan for it?

And what does it mean when they say "have been working on Vanguard. Unfortunately..."?
