Where do you all most like to go at about level 35? I usually go to Wardship of Sleeping Moon / Vol Tuniel, but I never enjoy myself down there.

I used to do PotA....
IIRC, you can do either far east (Zossyr Hakrel/Karrus Hakrel/Tar Janashir) or far west (River Palace/Seawatch Coast).
What about Dargun's? They've got some nice weapons.

Thanks I am going to do Dargun's for sure, not sure how far that will take me. I'll check out those others you mentioned too.

Yes, I don't like the find feel of the Wardship. My mid-thirties are usually in Qalia at Tar Janashir (and lands just south of there) or Cragwind.

Cool thanks. I checked out Darguns, but there were some red cons so I've come to "Zossyr Hakrel", it's pretty good! The mobs are easy and I've got some upgrades and all the quests are about 30/32. So I should be able to get a few levels here and then maybe do Cragwind for a while too before I head back to Darguns. And then I'll try that Tar Janashir!
I got a few server first items today Although it doesn't mean much on a relatively new and empty server.. But it's fun to explore places I have never seen before. The world is pretty amazing.

No idea actually, but I'm not surprised I'm finding server firsts because the population is so low. Last night was the first time I saw another person =O And I'm level 32! I do "/who all" a lot as I'm travelling around the world with the rifts, and judging by what I see, I would be surprised if there is ever more than a hundred people online. It has its upside though in that I feel like a lone adventurer and the solitary and self sufficient adventuring has a really nice feel to it once you get used to it.
I'm still having fun anyway. I start to get weary in the 30's and I'm feeling it now for the first time with these characters, although I'm determined to level higher than I ever have before, this time. Usually I quit about level 35, but I would really like to see the 40-50 content. Not sure I could be bothered going above 50 though. We'll see.

I started crafting. I figured with the experience bonus weekend it would help the learning curve. Now I remember why I hated it (and Silius) so much when I did it before. Restarting each item in a work order when done, forced to cancel when out of regents or points, lack of tools for complications, endless work order, etc. I am lvl 14 leatherworker now. I don't know if I will ever make anything productive, but at least it keeps me off the streets.

My problem is that the pace (and interest) of adventuring quickly out distances what I can do as a crafter. At low levels, the gear does not last long.

Heh yeah, adventuring moves at quite a pace and gear is constantly getting better. I used to hunt down nameds and get all excited about the great loot they dropped, but now I don't even bother. No point going out your way for a fancy item from a level 20 named, when the next night you are level 25 and the average quest rewards are far better.
Although, the game seems to REALLY slow down at level 30! Maybe it's just me but it seems like a huge difference. 1-29 is just pew pew pew leveling up constantly. I do a few quests and ding, sometimes if a quest involves a lot of killing, I end up dinging just off the mobs, and then getting another half a level when I do the hand ins. But at 30+ I am now doing several quests just to fill up quarter of my xp bar. I also noticed that when I died, I lost over 110,000 XP which is a fair amount! It makes recovering that tombstone pretty essential.
I kinda like the challenge though, for now at least. I quickly get burned out in the 30's so I'm wary of it. But for now I am still questing in Zossyr Hakkrel and nearby, and I am still enjoying myself. The dungeons (even these large cave type ones) are more fun than most other games. I have Lull and Durance now so I am able to split pulls and control the encounters far better. I also have invisibility on both my characters so I can often just sneak past all the trash mobs and go straight for the quest mobs or nameds. I should be 33 soon and then at about 34 I'm going to head back to that Dargun's Tomb place and see how it goes.

Note to self - and the world - never do any quest that involves killing Earthrenders.

Yes the XP curve changes screwed up lots of things: questlines, item 'goodness' and crafting. Though, TBH, if I remember the original curves, the original crafting curve was murder - easy to outpace it, but it seems even easier to outpace it now unless I sit and focus on crafting. Haven't played in a few days - too much going on IRL.

I'm 34 now! Just finished the "Alter of the Lost" which turned out to be a total waste of time. I'm just questing in Southwatch area, trying to get 35 and then I'm going to try the Dargun's Tomb weapon quest. XP sure is slow though now, each level takes a lot of work.
Once I try Dargun's Tomb, I'm going to decide whether to switch servers or not. The benefit of the world being empty is that I can go anywhere and do anything and there is never anyone in the way. But if I'm peeing in to the wind by trying these higher level dungeons alone, then I will switch across. I tried a new character on the other server and I couldn't believe how busy it was in comparison! No lag either. And apparently I can just petition and they will move transfer my characters for free.

A few of us are having an interesting discussion on the VG forum. Basically, some current players don't want the game to go f2p because the game would grow with more "WoWzers and RiftHeads and LOTR Fanbois"; they want to keep the minimal community they have now.
I don't care for f2p myself, but VG has a very small community that in reality cannot support the game. They want game development but no community growth? There is no reason to do anything to VG other than life-support if nothing is done to grow the playerbase.

I see pros and cons of both ways, so I don't really mind what they decide to do. If it goes F2P then I will be able to play my 2box and maybe even a 3box without having to pay multiple subscriptions! It might also bring in enough new people to make enough new money to afford some new content! But if it stays subscription based then it helps preserve the game as it is now, the community wont change much and the gameplay wont change much, but sadly the lack of new development wont change much either. So pros and cons of both, I will go with the flow.
Also if I'm brutally honest, I don't actually care all that much anyway. I used to deeply care a lot, but 5 years of aging and 5 years of neglect, has erroded most of caring now. I will probably play GW2 or ArcheAge when they finally release so my love for Vanguard is behind me now really.

What a bunch of idiots.
They should have been accentuating and improving on the things that made Vanguard different...the small amount of the original vision that was still evident in the game.

You want SoE to devote more time to Vanguard? You have to have a bigger player base. You want people who played it at launch to come back? Reduce the gap between them and those playing now.
EQ is suffering this same problem. People want to come back and play, but it doesn't take long for them to realize the road is *extremely* long in catching up with the segment of the player population that includes 95%+ of the players and for whom any new content is being created.
I completely agree with you in that trivializing a game like EQ or Vanguard isn't preferable. However, the problems that currently exist, keeping players away, are very real. No one wants to level up to the level cap alone. SoE is simply easing the pain involved.

Eh don't they just use Mercs in EQ to level up?

Maybe he is talking about a progression server or something? Last I heard with normal EQ, you could become level 9 million in about a week and then run around the world soloing gods. Or something close to that.
