Plus, these 2-Disc DVD's will feature a bonus disc that includes, for the first time ever on DVD, the original films as seen in theaters in 1977, 1980 and 1983.

Why did they remove his "shooting first" when they moved the film to DVD? Did they think it made him seem like less of a 'good guy'?

Something like that. I think the impression was 'wtf?!? he killed someone in cold blood?!?'

May not be "heroic" but is definitely sensible of him.

Actually it was before the DVDs I think. It was when Lucas went on the whole "New Special Extended McDonalds version" of each of IV V and VI and they were re-released in the theatres. Remember those silver, gold and bronze boxed sets of VHS? Remember the "new" Jabba scene? Remember the pink ring that flew out of the Death Star's exploding ruin? I'm pretty sure that was all on VHS because they were waiting for I II and III for DVD. I could be wrong though.

Heh, woah, that sounds way too fanboi... anyway, yeah I think it was to soften the edge on one of the series' future protagonists.

Mind you though, these aren't touched up versions of the acual reels....or even direct copys of the reels.

No...these are straight rips from Laser Disks. Mr. Lucas...you hate us.

The ones on the DVDs will be lower quality, that's all. Hopefully when Lucas realizes he can make big bank with the THX versions on DVD he'll hook us up.

Btw, hi everybody. I live.

There's a great South Park episode on George Lucas and Steven Spielberg changing their movies for the new millenium. I'm sure some of you have seen it.
