At long last, it looks like the Ageia PhysX chip (from BFG) has reached the sub-$150 price range.
Of course, this doesn't change the fact that it is still totally dead in the water and not worth buying.
(The Asus PhysX card doesn't seem to appear on NewEgg or Provantage.)

ProVantage always blows me away. They have the Antec Sonata III case + PSU at ~$85, while NewEgg has a base price of 150 or $120 post rebate.
Looks like ProVantage really is the place to buy cases. The same is often true of the 900, NewEgg is often ~$130, while ProVantage is often ~$85.
Not really "on sale", just pointing out to peeps that ProVantage almost always seems to have the better deal on cases. Maybe NewEgg doesn't like cases cause they take up so much storage space or something.

I bought my Antec 900 case from Newegg.. paid about 120 for it. 100 for the PSU, a 500W.
(Now to find a good 750W when I get my 8800 card after fall quarter...)

You only need 500w for a series 8. Getting more power is sometimes a bad thing. Something like the Corsair 620 would be way more than you'd need.
If you really want to go with a high power amount though you may want to look at the Antec TPQ-850.

I don't think this is a sale price, just pointing it out to peeps... ProVantage has the Logitech Z-5500 speakers for ~$236, which is a lot cheaper than the NewEgg price which is almost always $300.
It looks like the larger/heavier items have a bigger markup on NewEgg, as cases are almost always more expensive there compared to ProVantage. Guess it makes sense that speakers would fall into this category as well.

Acer 19" Widescreen $179.99 + Free Shipping. This thing is really nice, glossy finish and screen very vibrant. My brother in law just got it. He thanked me for pointing it out.

Edit: Way better looking than a $240 Samsung I saw at best buy.

A few posts up rabb1t says that sometimes having too much power (on a PSU) is a bad thing. Total tech noob here, but why is that? I always assumed that any extra unused wattage would just lay dormant.
I am a bit concerned about my system now... I have a 550W PSU but only a 7900GS graphics card and a Pentium D 820 CPU. I got a good deal on the power supply unit and got it thinking if i upgrade the CPU and/or get a new graphics card i would be set, not needing to upgrade my power supply.
Am i in danger of damaging my system by having too much wattage in my PSU? If i can afford it would you guys reccomend getting a lower power PSU and moth-balling my 550W until i have stronger hardware that can actually utilize the wattage?
If i am misunderstanding things, i appologize... Again, total tech noob here (i cant even have a custom UI for Vanguard because i cant get my head around changing and saving the configurations in my .ini files and stuff like that. If it was simply downloadable and 'plug-and-play i would be set. maybe this will happen one day?).

There was a recent article, I forget which one, that mentioned the efficiency rating isn't really hit until around 75% of the total load. So if you are running less power and the PSU isn't really working, it will have poorer efficiency.
I don't think it is really damaging in any way, but the article seemed to imply you wanted to be closer to 75% or more of the PSU's load than not. So, someone who only needs like 400w using a 1000w may actually be paying more for power than they need to because the efficiency rating for what they are using would be worse on the 1000w.
I don't see that it could damage anything in any way. They were just referencing what PSUs were designed to target a certain average load, and 'too much spare' means that it just isn't being used as they expect peeps to, so efficiency would be down.

Antec EA430 PSU $45 after the $20 mail-in rebate. The rebate is good until August 12.
This 430W PSU is >80% efficient, rear-mounted fan, and made by Seasonic so it is very quiet. It is not modular and has only one PCI-E power connector (which means it won't power an 8800GTX or 2900XT), but for an 8800GTS 640MB or less system, this is a very nice PSU for a very nice price!
I usually say there are very few good PSUs under $70 and none under $50 but this is an exception. If you've been thinking about replacing an older PSU, snap this up while the rebate lasts.
