Default fast question ...

i hope my processer is fast enough. I have a 2.4gig, 1gig ram, 256nvdia 5500fx video card, sound blaster live...

I hope that the processer will be fast enough... it's a Dell from 2002. Vid card upgraded.

Well it sounds like you will be on low-medium specs for Vanguard. You may want to upgrade your graphics card if possible, but I think you will be okay. Is the processor AMD or Intel?

Yeah, I'd say the biggest thing for you would be to upgrade your video card. I'm guessing that's an AGP system?

Brad just recently spoke about some unofficial, preliminary minimum specs for Vanguard. Your system is a bit below those minimum specs... you could get a new vid card for AGP and it would probably run on low settings...but it may be time to start looking at a whole system upgrade within the next year or so.

I think the Dell is PCI slot so you might be better off getting a new computer.

Wife got a dell around that time frame, bight higher processor, but same video card. Came in the AGP flavor, so you whould be able to upgrade that at least.

Start looking to upgrade to a whole new system, just a waste of money, even if you maxed it out, best processor for that socket (probably 478) is 3.0GHZ, barely meets the recommend unoffical specs of vg. Then upgrade your memory to 2gig (if thats even possible). Then spend another $100+ to get a decent graphics card. You would still probably run VG on minimum settings, gambling with possible choppiness. Lowest resolution definately. PCI-Express is recommended btw. You would spend over $200 easily, upgrading that to the best it could be only to be disappointed. So, if it does everything you want it to do now, start shopping/waiting on something. Maybe thanksgiving sell? Good luck.
