Yeah, so generally you spawn in the same 'chunk' as where you died, which means you're not miles and miles away from your corpse. But still far enough for you to make a corpse run, and a meaningful one at that if you died in an area where mobs on the way have respawned. Alternative is of course summoning at the altar where you 'respawn' but that comes with its own cost (small monetary as well as experience loss). They implemented item durability 2 or 3 days ago. We don't yet know if it's there to stay, but I thought it a bit odd that they implemented that only a few days before open beta. We'll see how it goes and how it'll all work. My guess is that they have to tune that still and I do not unfortunately know if dying has an effect on the durability.

Class clones i fear will suck to me..

I don't know what exactly you mean by 'class clones'. Each and every class I tried feels and plays different to me. But then again, I didn't take any character past level 10. I'd think it only becomes more apparent after that though.

CHAR MODELS! .. omfg give the animal races tails.. wtf.. I dont think i can play a Feline race .. or a Canine race without a tail. Its just not "realistic". I play a 75 Beastlord on EQ1 (Rallos Zek - Zek).

Yeah, I'd like to see tails too, but then again, there are more important issues that need to be fixed before release - till they do add them, my tail is simply tuck inside my pants

I agree with what you said about the tail in the pants. Honestly that is probly how it should be in the first place due to the lack of holes in the rear of all the armor/pants IRL. =p .. Tucking in the pants works very well for RP.

Ah, well, classes are roughly taken from D&D. Not specifically here, but really everywhere, because that's the 'basis'. Thus a rogue will be someone with daggers who backstabs, a warrior will be the one who has loads of hitpoints and can handle many types of weapons, and the sorcerer/wizard type will be wearing cloth.

Yet I see differences here too. While in EverQuest as well as World of Warcraft Druids were basically healers, in Vanguard they don't fall in the healer archetype, and although they have gotten a little heal of their own, they really have a different role.

The Est. time remaining is more of a random number generator than an actual estimate; from what I am hear it takes about 8 to 12 hours, even if you have DSL or cable. Especially with everyone downloading it at the same time.

Whats going on? I'm "updating", And it was at about 30 minutes estimated time left, and now the yellow bar if full, but it says 19 hours and 17 minutes

I got in via the pre-order box, if that helps at all. please tell me whats going on and how I can fix it

Anyway, I've been hearing a lot of stuff from people who have been in the beta's before open who are saying they made it more and more easy because of complaints from beta testers. I hope that's not true. That would just be catering to WoW players. I hope nobody wants that, The majority of WoW players are young, over-talkative, and very very rude. I should know, I quit WoW for that very reason.

One of the main reasons I've been excited about vanguard and am sitting here tensed for my beta "update" to finally finish is the game is supposed to be harder and more mature then other games on the market. If they toned down the difficulty for beta testers, I dunno if I'll stay with the game.

Also I heard from soembody on this thread that there was a questionaire given out with reversed rating (1 is best, 5 is worst, counter-intuitively) and after people realized this, Sigil wouldn't re-distribute it. Thats not right. I hope these are lies, half-truths, or didn't have much effect on the game.

I guess I'll see whenever this decides to finish.

I couldnt agree more. It ended up taking me a little more than 10 hours to get it done.

I started out at .. yeah the 15 min time.. bar went all the way across. then. time jumped to 11 hours so i restarted the patcher. still said 11 hours. then droped to 8. so i was like ok. ill go to sleep and when i get up i can play.. i get ontoday.. my download is canceled.. i start up and it says 18 hours. im like wtf. am i gonna be able to play this weekend or what? I have weekends off work and thats realy the only time i can play games to any extent anymore.

Ok now sence i have restarted the patcher the 18 hour ETA has gown down to 5. Meaning it only downloaded for 3 hours last night...... I have business class cable. it dosnt go down. so something was turned off on SOE side.. so pissed..

ok its been uh a little while now.. and my download has gone up in time.. now up to 9 hours. I have 13.9 gigs in my folder.. how big is this game? AND WHY THE HELL DIDNT THEY INCLUDE MOST OF THE GAME IN THE DVD? Are they realy expecting people to play anytime soon?

the game is extremelly laggy, I am running off a 2.66 GHz P4, 1G of ram, and a 128mb gefore fx 5200, what is best to upgrade to invrease my game performace? And if you could, give me some suggestions on what to buy/best product for the money. Thanks

Lets see.. being that your running a 5200FX means you are on a non PCI express board.. To upgrade to something like mine would mean upgrading your whole computer cept persay your case and hard drive.
that weak of a proccessor is probly not to horrible honestly being as VG uses your GFX card then your proccessor. ram is ok but if you upgrade to a PCI express board you will end up having to get new ram due the the fact that the newer boards use DDR2 which is alot better. Here is my system specs and i only spent about 700$ and this is a total computer case and all besides monitor.

AMD Athlon(64)3700+ 2.2Ghz. San Francisco
1Gig Corsair XPS. 2 latency DDR2 ram
250Gig Western Digital Hard Drive
Geforce 7900GS 256Mb
My case was around 90$ which is realy nice being as it has 3 80mm fans and 2 120mm fans if you count the one thats in the 500watt Power supply it came with. My board is a Gigabyte K8 Triton series NFORCE4 SLI which supports up to the duel core 64 AMD's 939 pins.

I should run VG decently. But nowhere close to high settings. My old computer couldnt run EQ2 very well without being on extreamly low settings and i had an AMD 2000+ (1.6 gig) single core proc. a 256meg FX 5200 GFX card 2gigs of ram 80 gig hard drive +2 40 gigs. With this comp i run EQ2 at around 40-50 FPS out of town and in town i get around 30-40. mind you this is at next to highest settings.. I can run 2 WoW windows at the same time and get on the upward of 80-90 FPS on both windows.

Also remember that that single core Penticrap dosnt proccess as well as that AMD 2000+ 1.6 does. Well.. i cant say that. 2.6 is a bit newer then a 2000+ so i would say the 3000+ which i think clocks somwhere around 2Ghz.. Mostly AMD out performs Intel on most every proccess besides the newer ones that cost like what 500$?


I cant wait for the AMD quad cores to come out /pant

Honestly. The way these games are set up.. at least if its like EQ1/EQ2.. you can just copy and paste the whole folder to another computer if on the same network. That way if you have more then one computer and lost your disk you dont have to buy a new one. So if you still cant start downloading close to the time theirs is finished then i would just say wait for them to finish and transfer the whole folder to your computer. you may have to have a few DLL files that are easy to get and put on your computer. "you have to do that with EQ1"
