Straight from the wonderful and hardworking folks at Sigil:

SUBJECT: Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Open Beta to Close Jan. 23
Sony Online Entertainment and Sigil Games Online announced today that the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes open beta will close on January 23 at 11:59 p.m. PST. In anticipation of the January 30th launch of the fantasy-themed MMORPG, the servers will be shut down, and all beta character profiles will be transferred to a test server. The test server will open after launch with timing to be determined. For those who have pre-ordered Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, early access will be granted to the live servers before the official release date. More information regarding the early access will be released shortly.
Players can now pre-order Vanguard: Saga of Heroes digitally and at retail. Additionally, gamers that pre-order retail versions will receive an exclusive endurance buff scroll that will allow their character to sprint for longer periods of time (one per account).
For more information or to order Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, visit www.joinvanguard.com/buy/.
About Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
The only limits are your own in Telon. The adventurous can choose from multiple paths of exploration within the three spheres of advancement: adventuring; crafting; and diplomacy. Players can delve into the mysteries of Telon, and embark upon quests to slay monstrous beasts locked deep inside rugged mountain ranges. Those with a quick mind can use diplomacy to convince kings to move armies and change the course of history. With player-crafted boats, flying mounts, and customizable player housing, “Vanguard” offers players a world of their own choosing.

With the end of beta literally just around the corner, regardless of what you may think of the game, this has got to be an exciting and perhaps even scary time for the folks over at Sigil. Imagine what it must feel like for them to actually see all of their hard work come to fruition, an end product made available to the public
Congratulations Sigil!!

sweet!
I have a few questions though
1. Will there be a end of beta party?
2. what will happen at that party?
and
1. What are the server names?
2. What features will station players offer?

Personally, im taking alot of time off of gaming. Spending the next week putting in extra time at work. I figure this way, for the few days I get access to the live servers before the game hits retail stores, I can slack off at work and try to get out of the newbie area's before it goes live
Cant wait! Thanks sigil. /crossing my fingers for you all!

The real question here is, what is the day, hour, minute and second that the launch servers are coming back UP.
That is what I am most interested in knowing

Ok, for those who are not experts in the routine of prepping for a marathon-make-your-eyes-bleed launch.....This is what you do...
First you get the song "Eye of the Tiger" and play it on a loop on your MP3 player all week long.
Then you buy a Case or two of Mt. Dew or your favorite Energy Drink - Do NOT make the rookie mistake of putting these in the fridge. It is much easier to chug room temperature beverages.
Next you get a couple boxes of Hot Pockets, and Granola Bars. Hot Pockets for when you can AFK for two minutes at a time to microwave them, Granola Bars for the times when you can't afford an AFK.
Next you take a field trip to Philly to do the whole run up the steps a la the Rocky Movies.....This is just for s**ts, it won't help you, but damnit with the Eye of the Tiger still playing in the background, it is just too cool to pass up.
Lastly you pre-prep your computer with the days you have off....Blow the dust out of it, defrag the harddrives.....Get this stuff done now so you don't have to do it later.
Optional is putting out a "Gone to Ecuador - be back in 30 days" sign on your front door and on your telephone answering service.
Oh, and don't forget to get one last days worth of sleep before the servers launch because it will be all you will get for quite some time.
If you do all the above things, then you too Sir, will be ready for launch day.
This Program is Leto-Approved.
The "Expert" version of this Program requires a prescription and has some health risks....it is not FDA approved.

LOL (banking sleep)
I'm excited for you guys, but more for Sigil...
Oh yeah they will still have months of work to do "as this thing gets underway", but having the launch behind them and the money rolling in will make it all a lot easier.

Yeah, I agree. Will be nice for Sigil to have a few months of paid beta to get the game more stable and fix broken quest lines, clipping issues, cross chunk issues (yeah the mobs don't sprint across chunk lines, now they slide around) etc etc
Hopefully the servers and game will be nice and stable and the significant bugs fixed within a few months so I can devote some time and money to it. In contrast to just time during beta.
Oh well, off to another beta in the mean time.

Hello all  (first post, nice to meet you all) Had to laugh at this list, I prefer some of the following myself;
Pepsi and instant coffee.
Cigarettes and clean ashtrays at the ready.
A box of tissues just in case I get stuck bad, no one will help, and start to cry.
Boston market makes some fine microwave meals
Practice makes perfect. See how fast you can take a full shower (including soap and shampoo) my personal best was 7 min.
I highly suggest cotton shorts and t shirts or sweats depending on the weather.
Stock up on a 30 day supply of socks and undies (trust me here)
Snacks: Late night protein;
Planters nuts, several kinds in the can.
Jack links beef jerky.
Snacks: Sweet
Big container of assorted m and m's mini candy bars and hershey kisses.
Snacks: Healthy
Pre-Prepared small containers of salad with the salad dressing in a small container. Prepackaged.
Fresh fruit; bananas, apples, and grapes are the least messy.
TLC items: Tylenol Arthritis pain reliever
Hot water bottle
Heated throw.
Big bottle of booze.
Love GrammieGamer
(ps yes I really am a Grandma of 3, and I have been playing games since N64 and still love them)

My only problem is that now that I am a little older, and have a real job, (my I sure do miss college) I can only take one week of vacation time.
*which I did*
Since I work for a community college I will be hitting up the nursing department for an IV that I can hook up 3 litre bottles of Dr. Pepper to. Hmmm.. I think I might have to ask if that is safe first though. (*scribbles a new entry onto his 'to do' list*)
I just cannot do the 72+ hour marathon stints like I did in EQ. (/shudder at Fear camps) To this day I still cannot figure out how I pulled out a degree from that place. /boggle It reads "Systems Network Management" and it should read something like "MMOG Player Specialist"

and for the gamer that would rather not collapse in a heap of festering goo from all of that cholesterol, chemicals and trans fats...
Food:
the night before pre-order opens, make a big batch of chili and keep it in your slow cooker, using your favorite recipe. aside from cooking the beef with onions and peppers and whatever, this is mostly just tossing cans of stuff into the cooker =). Cook it overnight and leave it on warm for as long as you need it -- it actually gets better as the week goes on. probably not as good as eating a salad or something, but it will be right there when you need it and beats hot-pockets.
Drink:
Go down to your local health food store or Costco and find Sambazon Acai juice --it'll come in little boxes, and you can get them by the crate. each box packs a super energy kick (I'd say at least equivalent to an esspresso) and Acai is actually good for you.
