Here's an interesting bit of Vanguard trivia I thought you guys might enjoy. Over on Vanguardservers.com, Tagad posted the origins of the server names. They are as follows:

8 US PVE

Thunderaxe - Clan that once ruled the Dwarves ( King Dargun was a Thunderaxe)

Florendyl - Name of the High Elven Royal Line

Woefeather - Er, I guess someone misstranslated and I need to rename my giant. Karax Woefather was the name, but hey, I guess its Woefeather now.

Gulgrethor - Clan of Orcs, oppress that Martok tribe and invaded Thestra

Targonor - Line of Thestran Kings

Hilsbury - Named for Talyfyn Hilsbury, the lord of Hilsbury

Shidreth - Shidreth Ahgramun, ancient ruler of Qalia, Ahgram was named after him by his son, Fassethi after a bloody civil war.

Flamehammer - Name of the current Dwarven Royal Family, King Mithdor etc

1 US PVP

Tharridon - Tharridon the Mighty, a powerful Thestran Giant.

1 US alt PVP

Varking - Varking the Accursed, a powerful Thestran Giant.

1 EU PVE

Gelenia - A famous Blood Mage, various spells named after this character

1 EU PVP

Frengrot - Fengrot Foulbreath, another Giant of Thestra.

From what it says it seems that the actual name was Karax Woefather, and he was a giant. However, when naming the servers the giant's name was mispelled as Woefeather.

Labyrrinth can you link the actual post, as I am having one hell of a time finding it. Tagad isn't even in Vanguard servers member list...

My question is are these numerous Thestran giants going to be seen in Vanguard? I believe Tharridon is in game isn't he?

I'm sure I read about a named giant, that is extremely tough and KOS to all, that has his home somewhere in Thestra.

I get all giggly when I think that they might be adding 3 other named mobs wandering throughout Thestra....if they are. I like to think they might add some surprises before launch.

Is it just me, or doesnt it sound abit strange that there is "only" 1 EU PvE and 1 EU RP server for release ?.
I thought there would be alot more people from the EU who would play VG, or is there something I dont know when it comes to how many people that 1 server can handle (I thought max limit was around 5 - 6K people for 1 server) ??.

Unfortunately when it comes to mmorpgs Europeans normally get done over with to few servers or are forced to play on American ones increasing their lag.

Well in fairness, lots of us Euros (talking for my old eq guild) are acctually looking to join the US servers and our friends there.

Still 1 PVE seems pretty slim I have to admit, maybe we didnt preorder as much, and maybe its because there was only 10k beta passes for Euros prior to the preorder invites.

Anyway.. they built the game, im sure they'd add another server if needed.
