Silky Venom of Seradon!

In the latter part of 2005, a purely testing guild for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was formed under the banner of "Silky Venom", a name carried over from our Vanguard Affiliate Site. From the guild's inception, through the progressive betas, through the first day of release of Vanguard and continuing today, Silky Venom, as a guild, has been dedicated first to thorough testing and now to committed playing of the game.

To make a long story short, many in Silky Venom were here to witness the evolution of the game from the beginning of Vanguard. When Sigil Games decided that it would only work with community websites that did not support or promote goldselling and RMT, Silky Venom was created and became an Affiliate Site. That site became a major community source of Vanguard news and information. When the Vanguard betas began, Silky Venom moved quickly to develop a testing guild focused on thorough engagement with Telon. As the guild grew, the website leaders created an online home for it, cataloging its evolution and providing a place for interaction among Silky Venom members and between the guild and the community.

The guild has expanded from those early years and, while we never ceased being a testing guild at heart, we have evolved into primarily a players' guild. The relationship between the Silky Venom website and the guild has stayed strong through the years and we enjoy the continued support of the Silky Venom staff as they maintain our guild home.

Silky Venom's chosen server is Seradon. While Silky Venom was focused exclusively on raiding at launch, we have branched out and now fully support all three Vanguard gaming spheres. We do take raiding seriously and work hard at maintaining a geared and knowledgeable raiding force. Our object is to fully experience all the content that Vanguard has to offer. Many of us play a variety of alts, just to have the opportunity to play through content missed by our main characters. As a guild we also make a sincere effort to assist and support crafters and diplomats as they seek out the content variety offered in their specific spheres.

Both the Silky Venom website and the guild gained many friends and associates through the years who, along with us, cheered the day that Vanguard launched. Some have since left Vanguard and we miss them. Many still play the game and enjoy the mature and lively community. Whether you apply to Silky Venom or not, we hope you will continue to be part of our circle of friends.

Early on, we used the guildchat as a testing tool: We used it to better organize our groups and to coordinate our testing efforts as we progressed through all the areas in Thestra open to us. Simply put, all of us, from the Guild's inception, as beta progressed with more areas open to us, and up until now, as beta has now come to a close, have been dedicated to testing the game as thoroughly as we could, making many alts and doing many of the same things over and over.

To make a long story short, many in Silky Venom have been here to witness the evolution of the game for well over a year of its development. Since its creation in 2005, the Guild has expanded and, while we never ceased being a testing guild at heart, we also became a players' guild in the process. As the beta progressed into its latter stages and members of the Site were admitted into beta, the relationship between the Site and the Guild had grown. In addition to being the place to go for Vanguard news, information, and community, the Site will be the home of the Guild, cataloging its successes and evolution.

It is an exciting time for us to finally see the game go Live, and we are happy to finally know where our more permanent home in Vanguard will be:

Silky Venom will be on the US PVE server, Shidreth. Silky Venom will be an exclusive raiding guild. Since 2005, both the Site and the Guild have gained many friends and associates who, along with us, have been awaiting the day that Vanguard launches. Where possible, we hope that at least some of you will be able to be on the Shidreth server to continue that relationship of mutual friendship.

To those of you who may ask about joining the guild, I can tell you that the application to join the guild will be up without much further delay, but we will only be doing limited recruiting at the start of the game.


Whichever server you plan on calling home, enjoy the game! We certainly will!
