Wile 2 gigs is not required its recommended and there for would help with performance.
I only have 1 gig of ram. I will not upgrade it because I will be getting DDR2 for my new computer when I upgrade.
I have accepted the performance of my computer the way it is as should other folks.
There are only a couple options the way I see it.
1) Accept it, and buy the game.
2) Don't buy the game and move on.
3) Upgrade and stop whining.

Allow me to just point out that I have faith Sigil will get things right eventually. I think from some of his posts it is obvious Brad would like a bit more time but really has no other options at this point.
That said I think there are some performance issues on sigils end of things that go beyond some pretty steep system requirements. I just recently got my brand new system all set up and ready to rock, and there are a couple of issues that I've had that just should not be happening on my system.
Firstly, I've crashed to desktop a couple of times. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with performance, as only one time of the times I can remember was it even in a high traffic area. I sent in the report like a good little beta tester, but that's issue number one.
Number two, as was stated by the OP, is the hitching. Often enough I get hitching when running into a high pop area, and this is on a computer that gets 30+ fps with all the graphics options maxed out. That just shouldn't be happening. I'm not saying I don't want to see a slowdown, obviously there will be a slowdown with a number of new things are being rendered all at once. What I am saying is that my understanding of good coding is that you string out the object rendering a bit and get a more average drop in the framerate as compared to the 35 fps - 3 fps - 20 - 2 - 35 - 5 -etc. that is essentially what happens when I run into a high traffic area.
