Default Vanguard’s Guide to “Who Hates You”

Tagad, Senior Game Designer at Sigil, posted up this quick guide to who hates who in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, otherwise known as Your Quick Guide to KOS Status.

….

Most (but not all) small outposts are not KOS to races, but start with pretty low faction values.

A note on becoming non KOS - Its not overly hard, so do not despair if you are KOS in a particular location. It will require some work, but nothing that cannot be overcome.

1) Will there be a display telling us where we stand with each faction??
There wont be a display for normal factions at launch. You should be able to see your value when you slay something opposing that faction however.

2) Any chance on a list of things we'll be able to kill to work up faction?? *though I'm guessing self-discovery ftw here *
Generally things in the area that hate the faction. Example: Khal can be gained via killing Ksaravi, Harami Bandits, etc.

3) Rough estimate of how much faction we'll need to not be KOS anymore?? I thought I read 500 somewhere, but not 100%.
About 500 is accurate for most races. Dark Elves Vs High Elf is higher for example. Most races however, do start off in the hole with other races. So the additional benefits we will be adding to these factions over the months will be harder to reach for certain races.

Am I right in assuming that NEITHER barbarian race will be KoS in any starting city?

Faction noob question-

Does this mean if you're Vulmane for instance, a dwarf would be able to attack you anywhere, anytime? Just within Bordinar's Cleft city limits, or anywhere where you're techinically zoned in Bordinars Cleft (according to map and chat zones)?

Sucks big time for Vulmane/Varanjar/Lesser Giant being hated by Dwarves since Themwar's Shield is so close to BC and so integral to progression early on.

These factions are NPC factions. That means if you are a Dark Elf and you take a trip to Tursh the NPC's in Tursh will attack you......But it also means you can go as a DE and group with a Thestran Human just fine.

It isn't a PVP system that allows players to attack you based on faction.

Although that could be fun

If they put the work in for it, yea

Every local area is gonna have mobs around it that give +Faction to the cities faction.

Any new evidence on how long it would take someone to go from KoS to non-KoS?

I am an Orc...and EVERY one of my Kojan guildies live in Tanvu, except one who lives in Cai'al Brael. So, I've undertaken the path to become at least accepted by Tanvu officials, and questgivers.

As an Orc, I looked at the # 500 previously stated and assumed that would be correct. I am at 350 faction with Tanvu right now, so I still hope that 500 is true. I wish we could get a blue name to comment on that. I don't need them to tell me what I should kill, and I don't need them to tell me who will kill me...but knowing how much faction you need to prepare for really IS important.

Thanks,

formerly Eclipse
